The Ever Winking Cat
Meet Obi-Wan, the ever-winking cat. Obi came to us through our neighbor, who rescues and fosters cats from all over Oahu. He came to us with the name Bokeh, but this name was weird to pronounce and we already had a dog named Yoda, so it seemed fitting to give him a good old-fashioned Jedi name. Obi was a rescued kitten who had lost his right eye and is completely blind in his left eye. We aren’t sure what caused him to lose his eye or eyesight, and we have never had a blind cat or any animal, but watching him learn to navigate with sound and intuition has been pretty cool. My husband says, "The Force is strong with this one," whatever that means.

My Puppy Valentine
Moving to Honolulu Hawaii, was the most exciting adventure we have ever experienced as a Navy family. We prepared for months for the move. We found out that our beloved family cat of 12 years was not healthy enough to make the journey. When we went to the vet to screen our cat, who had been an official family member for 10 years, we were told it would not be wise for him to make the 13-hour flight to Hawaii from Connecticut. Sad and heartbroken, we decided to give Momos to a dear family friend. We knew he would be loved by our friends as much as we loved him, which made the day we said good by a little less tearful, but still so sad. We get updates and pictures of Momos living his best life all the time. We know that he is thriving and happy.

Short Stories: The Lone Witch
- Smack! Paris was abruptly awakened by the feeling of the back of her head meeting the hardwood floor. Welp, that’s one way to start off the day, Paris thought to herself as she rubbed the sore spot. Sitting up against the side of her bed, Paris got lost in her thoughts. It had been three months since that recurring dream started to… well recur. The dream first occurred the night of her 15th birthday. Paris found herself standing in endless darkness, with only a dim spotlight as her only source of light. The ground is covered in a shallow layer of water: but the most memorable part of the dream would be the haunting echo of a unionized whisper asking her if she hears something.

Short Stories: The Lone Witch
“Do you hear it?”, The unionized whisper of what sounded like thousands upon thousands of people echoed throughout Paris’s head. She had drifted away to a recurring dream that had started right after her 15th birthday, just a few months ago. They all started the same, she would find herself standing in infinite darkness, that of a void. With nothing but a spot light like soft glow, barely bright enough to see details past the silhouette of her hand. And although she couldn’t see it - she could feel the cool water blanketing her toes.
