In Silence She Screams, In Darkness She Shines
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. "The light from it's flame will guide their way through the darkness so they can find me here." She thought to herself as she looked around at the chaos that consumed this space where peace used to live. This cabin holds many secrets within it's bones and she is grateful that the walls can not talk. Not yet at least.

She Is No Longer Herself
She sits in the chair in the dining room, so small and frail. I can't help but wonder what she is thinking about. Her eyes are red and swollen as she stares at the floor transfixed to one particular spot. She makes no movements for what seems to be hours. Almost as if she is hypnotized in a trance, I snap my fingers to see if she will come back to reality. Is she being haunted by the trauma of her past, or has she always been this way? I ask her what she is thinking so hard about and she replies with the same answer she always does, "NOTHING". I don't want to anger her by asking any further questions so I walk away and let her be.

Frozen to Death
This winter was unlike most winters for us in Rochester, New York. It was a tad bit warmer than usual but still cold enough to freeze over most of the small bodies of water that are scattered throughout upstate New York. Today was one of the rare sunny days that we get so we decided to grab our skates and head for Mendon Ponds for a day of fun on the ice. My mom and dad, 2 brothers, 2 sisters and my best friend and I all piled up in our station wagon and hit the road.

Cell Phone Camera + Baby Doll = My new inner peace
When I was a little girl I didn't really like to play with dolls too much. I would play with my friends who wanted to play with dolls but was only interested in changing their clothes. I really wanted a real baby, not to keep but to cuddle and hold for a little while. See, I was more of a tom boy and did all the things my father and brother liked to do. I grew up fishing and digging for worms, playing ice hockey in our backyard, going to the drag races in the summer, and climbing trees. So the fact that I have found inner peace and happiness in taking pictures of Reborn baby dolls is still surprising to me.

To Teach The Children Who Do Not Know Love, How To Love Themselves.
I live in an extremely rough neighborhood where the sound of gunshots has become a normal part of our every day lives. In my apartment complex it is not uncommon to see yellow police crime tape blocking off an area while the police investigate yet another homicide. Drug dealers and drug addicts, gang bangers and ex-cons make up the majority of the people who live here. It is not safe for anyone no matter day or night to be outside. Caught up in the middle of this mess are the children who roam around freely with no parental supervision what so ever. No one cares enough to protect these poor little kids from any of the dangers that we all face. They all clearly exhibit signs of neglect and some even abuse. They run around and have complete disrespect for everyone including their own family and friends. Most of them use the most offensive language and they do not care who is around to hear them. They throw trash all over the place and destroy everything they can get their hands on including the playground the complex built for them. I have seen 3 year olds outside alone walking around aimlessly with no one following them. Sometimes the older kids will be outside screaming and beating on each other until 3 or 4am. They are becoming products of this environment and not a soul loves or cares about them enough to teach them that this is not the way to live. No one tells them that guns and violence are not "cool". They need to be taught that they can rise above this craziness and they can become what ever they want to be. At least more than what they are being raised around, after all they are the future of this country. If no one shows them positivity then I fear for what the future will be like for everyone.
