The Power of Intermittent Fasting
I’ve been an Athlete most of my life running Cross Country and playing basketball up to the collegiate level, so I’ve been in pretty good shape as I grew older through my 30’s and 40’s, keeping active enough to maintain my body weight between 200 to 215 pounds at 6’2” tall . But when I was 49 years old, I suffered through an accident that left me bedridden and required a 14 hour operation to save my left arm, requiring 6 pins and screws to save my shoulder during that major reconstructive surgery, and most of the muscle in my front left deltoid was removed, this resulted in me being incapacitated for two months in which time my weight ballooned up to 280lbs not just because of the inactivity but also the many anti inflammatory and corticosteroids the were giving me to help heal, but I was aware that I was losing muscle and becoming, well to be honest, I was getting fat to the point that I could see some cellulite forming on my inner thighs. As I laid there I knew that this weight gain would kill me eventually if left unchecked, so I had the idea not to just follow any diet, but try to find the diet that people with unlimited funds and time were following, I thought this would be some sort of multi-million dollar secret, but I soon discovered it was not, it just was not well known yet. So I looked towards the movie stars who have created incredible transformations for a Movie role. And one common thread kept coming up, with access to the best trainers and dietitians in the world, Intermittent fasting was a common denominator among all these. stars, including Hugh Jackman (Wolverine) to Chris Pratt( Guardians of the Galaxy) to Chris Hemsworth ( Thor) to name just a few, and it’s not just for men, Halle Berry, Jennifer Aniston, Scarlett Johanssen, Reese Witherspoon and Giselle Bundchen all follow the Intermittent fasting program and swear by it. So let’s say I was more than a little intrigued by the fact that all these megastars were following the same dietary program, and after further research I discovered that this was not some million dollar secret, if anything it was going to be LESS expensive to follow than my normal diet. And as I excitedly planned my foray into the world of intermittent fasting, I discovered that it not only transformed your body, but also could extend your life (longevity), improve cognitive functioning and stave off cognitive decline, increases cell survival, enhances metabolism ( through better glucose and cholesterol maintenance) , increases mitochondrial functioning and thus energy production and increases brain derived neurotropic functioning, which also improves overall brain functioning. But first things first, I was heavy, I wanted not to be heavy anymore, and I’d think about the other benefits afterwards, so I planned a modest exercise program around my injuries, and started my intermittent fasting program, which at its core is a form of caloric restriction, followed by a period of overfeeding during the same day. So my program went like this, with the goal to increase the fasting period throughout the day, and the great thing about waking up to begin fasting is the fact that your sleep gives you 6 to 8 hours of fasting right out of the gate in the morning, and my first modest goal was to make it to 1:00 pm without eating (I did have one coffee, not regular sugar laden whipped cream coffee, lol, because that would of ended the fast, one Coffee, no sweetness, not a lot of calories, and without advertising it here, or getting off track, it’s called BP Coffee, abbreviated but I know a simple Google search will tell you all about it, some of the aforementioned stars also used it, so I included it in my program) So if I woke up at 7:00 am, and let’s say you slept 7 hours, if you made it to 1:00 pm that would be a 13 hour fast, and my ultimate goal was to make it to 5:00 pm.

Be the Greatest Warrior in the Fight for your Health and Longevity
So Let Out Your War Cry so The Universe Can hear you and turn your way in alliance with your passionate cause. Well as the first icy cold wind of winters embrace tries to knock me back on my heels, it does nothing but strengthens my resolve to never stop, never surrender to the inequities of aging, and be a warrior for my health today and put more life in my years and years in my life. I’ve got a rather strong opinion to about that, because even though there’s been much to deal with this year all around us, I’m already going into the future and breaking that damn clock, throw out the calendar and the scale! I often heard this whiny refrain from the past year “but the gyms are closed, whah, whah, life’s hard”

“Precipice into the Abyss”
Sadness permeates my soul , I think I cannot go on for another moment, the gun is on the table next to me with two bullets waiting to be loaded into the open chamber. All the things my success has wrought surround me, my estate on the water, the cars, I can hear the horses slightly in the distance in their pens, my yacht swaying back and forth hits the moorings in a rhythmic fashion, seemingly in sync with my racing heart.

Alec Baldwin, A Cold Gun that was Hot, And the Tragedy that followed …
As I began to write this story about this tragedy what struck me right away was the memory I had of two similar incidents that occurred decades apart but still seemed fresh to me because of the questions of what went wrong to allow such a grievous lack of safety on a Movie set? The first memory was of John Erik Hexum, who in 1984 was an actor who was often compared to Tom Selleck in terms of potential, in between scenes for his TV series CoverUp, he loaded a .44 magnum that was to be used in the next scene with one blank cartridge. During a delay in shooting he began to play an impromptu game of Russian roulette with some crew members, and putting the gun to his temple, the blank fired, and as blanks use paper or plastic wadding to seal gunpowder into the cartridge, the wadding smashed into his head with enough force to fracture his skull, although not actually penetrating his skin, a portion of his skull was lodged in his brain, and six days later this promising young star was declared brain dead at age 26 of an accidental Self-inflicted gunshot wound.

She is The Light
“She walks on a beam of light unseen, she floats through her day without seeing her own angelic ethereal light that carries her, I awake to see a rainbow above me, and it is she, light as air, smiling and laughing, the room fills with light and my body fills with warmth as I awaken to the thoughts of her, above me, with me, and eventually her warmth washing over me, I smile as I awaken, knowing that part of her is with me still, from a dream filled reality that I lived not so long ago ..” John Walter Raney 1st

Dave Chappelle and Comedy on Trial — My Opinion
I’ve watched as the controversy swirling around comedian Dave Chappelle’s Netflix special “ The Closer” as its built into a somewhat of a fever pitch in the past few weeks. Let me first say I fully understand and have compassion for the suffering of others or their feeling of being marginalized, that being said, and without even mentioning the jokes or groups of people that are more than just offended by it, but want Dave Chappelle to pay, to disappear for his remarks. Ok, I find this a somewhat ludicrous position at face value , but I also find it deeply disturbing that this sort of outrage creates a fear for all comedians to create and comment through the jokes in their comedy routines on anything that may offend anyone.
