In my last employed role in the world of mental health, I was called a “shining light” by my CEO. Despite being the “shining light”, when it came to it, I was just a dispensable dull sheen on an old pot. I was made Redundant.
Dogs can be our closest companions, our solid and furry partner in the world. They help get us up when we aren’t motivated to do so. Get us into the fresh air because they need to walk. Focus on something other than ourselves. Give us a sense of responsibility and meaning. There to cuddle, stroke and laugh at when they are silly.
I have worked from home for the last 8 years, and I am someone who LOVES working from home. When the pandemic hit I assumed nothing would really change for me as I already worked from home and enjoy my own company. I live with my partner, who is also my best friend, and our dogs, so I had plenty to keep me occupied as I settled into lock down. As happens in these situations, it didn’t work out quite the way I expected.
