Runaway Train
The train car is filled with passengers sitting across from each other in cozy booths. Christmas lights are strewn across the ceiling and around the windows. There's a small tree in the back corner covered in tinsel with several wrapped packages beneath. Some passengers are smiling and pointing while others are looking out the windows. Some are sleeping. Bing Crosby Christmas carols blast over the intercom.

Valley of Shadows
There weren't always dragons in the valley. In the beginning there was a lush garden with trees of every imaginable color filled with vibrant blossoms, delicious fruits, and a multitude of singing birds. There were fragrant flowers as tiny as a mustard seed and as large as a boulder. Plants to cure every disease. There were butterflies, dragonflies and bumble bees. The sun rose high in the sky each morning bringing warmth and light. The moon and an explosion of stars filled the evening sky shining bright in the darkness. All humans and animals living in peaceful harmony. Once it was paradise.

Dear Mom, If I’d only had the capacity to understand then, 25 years ago, what I know now we would have been closer. After my sister was born I felt obsolete. Whether that was fair or not really wasn't relevant. I was eleven and an only child until she arrived. From my young point of view she took all of your time away from me. I was lonely.

Beauty In The Beast
It’s no surprise that everyone in town turned out for my Grandad's wake. Everyone except Patch. Everybody loved Thomas. The kindest man they called him, genuine, always smiling, a true gentleman. It was all true. My Grandad never lost his patience or his temper. He really was the kindest, gentlest man.
