Dealing with Parkinson's
I have been falling for the past year. I ended up in the hospital many times after a fall. I got dizzy and my legs collapsed under me. After falling a lot, I never went out. At first, I thought I had vertigo. In the hospital I had a new neurologist take over my case. He said the falling backwards was caused by my Parkinson's Disease.
My experience with Parkinson's
I was shaking a lot and in the hospital.A neurolgist came in and said I have Parkinson's. I was in shock. He put me on carbadopa levadopa right away. That is a med for this terrible disease. I started shaking less. I didn't want to believe I had it. I went to another neurologist and she confirmed the diagnosis. She sent me for physical therapy and kept me on the same meds. I was helped a little by PT.
My battle with bipolar psychosis and drug addiction
Last February, I was sick in the hospital with shortness of breath and heart failure. I always had a bad lower back and was put on up to 80mg of opiates from my pain doctor. I was so addicted to them. The hospital would not give me that high a dose. They gave me 10 mg of percocet a day. I started having withdrawal symptoms. I have bipolar disorder and started getting paronoid. I thought the police were watching me from behind the wall. I called the nurse a fake nurse and the younger guy in the next bed a fake patient.
My Experience with Cataract Surgery
I am a fairly young man in my 60's and have had cataracts for about two years. I had them in both eyes. My left eye got steadily worse. I was having trouble reading in dim light. I am a patient of a very competent eye surgeon who graduated from an Ivy League medical school in NYC 25 years ago. He said now was the time to have cataract surgery on my left eye.
Earning a PhD in Education at 66
I am a 66 year old senior citizen and started my PhD online almost two years ago. By the end of next summer, I will be half finished with my PhD in Higher Education Administration and Leadership. With that degree, one can be a professor or the President or Vice-President of a University or a College.
Pain Management Doctors Selling Drugs
I have had a very bad lower back for over 5 years. I tried everything to help with it. I tried physical therapy and going to my primary doctor who gave me a medication called tramadol that is supposedly a pain killer. It is debatable. He used to give me a bottle of over 360 of them and tell me to take one every four hours. I did that and still had a lot of pain. I took them for over a year to no avail.
Relationship with a Sociopath
In the summer of 2012. I met a younger man for a relationship on Craigs List. He was very tall and blonde and very good looking. He was 24 and I was 58 at the time. He looked like a fashion model. He was a gay man from my area. He didn't have a car or a job or much money. I met him and took him over my place. We talked and seemed to hit it off. I then took him for some pizza and took him home. He seemed nice but a little strange.
Going for a PhD at 65 years old
One is never to old to learn. They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks. I disagree with not teaching an old dog new tricks. I got my BA in Spanish at 21 and my MBA at 23 and became a professor at 27. I was one of the youngest professors in my university. I am now studying for my PhD in Higher Education at the age of 65, going on 66 in two months. I still have a lot of energy and a sharp mind. I started a DBA in Organizational Behavior two years ago and got mostly A's and B's at the doctoral level. I was working on my PhD in Education last year, and got 100's on doctoral research papers.
My Skiing Accident in Lake Tahoe
I was a college professor on vacation in 1987, in Lake Tahoe at a ski resort near the resort where Sonny Bono was killed a few years later in a skiing accident hitting into sa tree. I went on a ski trip vacation with my yougner brother and my cousins from the Bay Area around the holidays, in 1987. There was plenty of snow. I had very limited skiing experience. My cousin gave me some skiing lessons as a gift. I also paid for a few on my own,
Near Death Experience
Six years ago, I went shopping in the local dollar store with my friend Billy near my apartment in my town. It was across the street from where I live. I was walking through the ailes and Billy was in another aile. Suddenly a terrible pain shot trough my chest area. The pain got stranger and stronger. I thought I was having a massive heart attack, I was a 60 year old male with just hypertension and not history of heart trouble.
My Experience With Bipolar Depression
I have had bipolar disorder and depression since I am 18 years old. I am now a 65 year old male living at the NJ shore. I missed my whole senior year of high school. I went to a private boy's high school for college prep and was number six in my class of 250 boys before mania and depression set in.
