The Steele Inheritance
Don’t ask me what I’m doing here. I’m still trying to figure it out myself. Why did I come back after almost a decade to see a family I ran away from years ago? What could have possessed me to do something I swore never again to do? Perhaps I came back for my grandfather, for the part of him that was still good and sweet and had a smile that made the corner of his eyes crinkle like the paper in the story books he used to read to me. Perhaps I did it for the part of him that could still smile, tucked away in nostalgic folds of memory. But he was no longer that person when I left, so perhaps I’m simply here out of respect for the dead.

Binx and I: A "Tail" of Destiny
I always considered myself an animal lover, but never a cat person. The only cats I knew were my aunt’s, which were always hiding unless it was dinner time. I never had a cat growing up, only dogs because my father was allergic. I’m allergic, too—to both dogs and cats—but I could never live without a dog so I have simply come to terms with the fact that I will forever be on allergy medication. At one point, we seemed to be rivaling Noah’s Arc—my family had two dogs, two gerbils, two frogs, and two fish. I always considered myself an animal lover, but when it came down to the old cat vs dog debate, my answer was simple: dog. I have always been a dog lover. I still am. Yet I somehow ended up with a cat whom I absolutely adore and love with every beating crevice of my heart.

10 Movies to Watch Before the 2021 Oscars
I grew up in a household that loves movies. Not only was a trip to the theater a time-honored event, but we also acquired racks of VHSs, then DVDs, and now streaming services (though I must admit we still enjoy our extensive DVD collection). It only made sense that I would grow up to become a Visual Effects (VFX) Artist, working on films and television series as a Compositor for a respected VFX company. As movie lovers, my family has a long-standing tradition of watching as many of the films nominated for Academy Awards as we could manage, and I now invite you to do the same.

What You Need to Know About the Peloponnesian War
When reminiscing upon the history of ancient civilizations, it is easy to emphasize the glorious contributions to modern day society: the art, architecture, culture, theology, philosophy, politics, and technology. Ancient Greece gave modern society democracy, algebra, theater, the Archimedes Screw, stunning sculpture, and rich mythology; yet when it comes to common knowledge, civil wars and bloody battles are often overlooked in favor of the culture’s crowning achievements. Yet, much can be learned from war, especially when it involves a divided nation.
