Flash Fiction | An Evening With Mr. Barrington
Ok, so this might sound weird, but since I was a little kid, I’ve had this six-foot tall penguin, Mr. Barrington, following me around. I was super excited at first because what little kid doesn’t love an imaginary friend? However, as middle school crept up, and my childhood began to morph into adolescence, I decided that Mr. Barrington may not be an imaginary friend after all. No way was I going to tell anyone that a giant penguin followed me around everywhere I went. I decided to just keep quiet about it. My brain would grow up and he would go away one day, right?
They say an owl is to the night what an eagle is to the day; that birds are messengers from the spirit world to communicate with us. Cardinals are thought to be loved ones visiting us from the hereafter. Blue Jays are a sign of our need to communicate and remain resilient. Crows and Ravens are thought to be angels giving us a glimpse into our future… the list goes on and on. Every bird on this planet has a spiritual symbolism attached to it.

10 Years From Now
Today is the last day of September, and as I do every month, I sit with my planner open reflecting on the month that was while I plan on what I am going to focus on for the month ahead. Driving Around With Angst
Picture it... suburban Chicago 1995. I had my driver’s license, a fresh breakup, life was rough at home, and enough angst to fill Lake Michigan. My saving grace was a 90 minute carefully curated Memorex mixtape, and enough gas money to drive around aimlessly for hours.

Climate Change is a crisis we all have to worry about. It will be the single most impactful element in every corner of our life. One of the biggest contributors to the climate crisis is our individual carbon footprint. What is our carbon footprint? In simple terms, it is the amount of energy we consume and expel that directly impacts the health of the Earth and contributes to the climate change issues we are experiencing today.
Let's Fire Up The Starter Jacket Again!
Anyone who was alive between 1990 - 1995 knows about the Starter Jacket craze. They were the cool counterpart to your parent’s nylon windbreaker and pants set so you could make glorious swishing sounds with the tiniest of movements as a family.
5 Ways To Nail Your Elevator Pitch
Ah, the Elevator Pitch. The second biggest nightmare for a writer after the dreaded Logline. A cruel practice where we have to condense our life’s work that has taken us months or even years into something we could present in an elevator and gain instant interest in thirty seconds or less.
