The Good Daughter
Rolled out of bed, took the pupper out to sniff and snuffle before getting down to the business of his morning ablutions. Back inside to prep his breakfast, change his water and make the coffee. No one took out the garbage, lug it out and replace the bag. Dishes left in the sink from the dinner I cooked the night before. Better wash those before the coffee maker beeps. Take my blood vitality supplement so I can breathe. The blood tonic that helps me live and makes one of my friends jokingly call me a vampire. Wait an hour before I suck down the piping hot coffee and get started on the rest of my day.

Blood and Rain
All around her the fog swirled, thick and foreboding. No birds sang. No rodents chattered. It was as though they stood as silent witnesses to some horror she had yet to stumble upon within the shadows of her home. Her nose twitched. The scent of woodsmoke began to drift through the air, tinged with just the faintest hint of blood. Soon she would be able to smell roasting meat, she was sure of it. If she approached the right way, she might be able to win some food for herself.

New Year, New Me
I end every year with by listening to the blues and having a drink. A snack of herring in wine sauce and some fresh baked rolls serves as a good-luck charm. I’ll sit in my living room watching the festivities on TV rather than mingling at a party or being part of those crowds that you see out in the streets. Every year I tell myself that I’ll do something different and the following year will be awesome. It never makes any difference.

Sasquatch
I cursed myself for making such a stupid mistake while scanning what seemed like endless treetops from my perch on the lone, bald hill. How could I think that heading down a side trail this late in the day would be a good idea? I knew better. I wasn’t some novice hiker, and yet I was lost with little more than the clothes on my back and a utility knife that I always carried with me on hikes. All out of water, no snacks and even my cellphone was useless up here.

Dog Grooming 101
So, I've loved dogs for my entire life! I mean, I am obsessed. There will never be a time that I don't love dogs, or a time when dogs aren't welcome with me. I grew up with dogs. I grew up watching dog shows and agility competitions. I've had a Labrador, an Irish Setter, a German Shepherd, a Pomeranian, a Gordon Setter and now a Whippet. I've loved them all dearly and learned the idiosyncrasies of each breed and many more.
