The Estranged Wife Part 5
George Harris’ POV Sarah insisted to go with me to the site office today. She said she had some documents for Alex and David to sign. I volunteered to bring the documents and have them signed because I was worried that she wasn't ready to see Alex after the confrontation that happened on the previous day. She was unusually quiet during our breakfast this morning. I wanted to ask her about what happened yesterday but I decided to keep my mouth shut. Sarah would tell me everything if she felt the need to, I assured myself. We were both speechless halfway through the site.

The Estranged Wife Part 4
David Carter’s POV I rushed to the nearest mall to buy some clothes for Alex. I didn’t understand why he kept bullying Sarah, apart from the fact that she is his ex-wife. He has been making her miserable for weeks. Sarah seemed really nice and she didn’t deserve all this crap. I’m going to confront Alex and ask him to cease bullying her. I’m going to do this not because I’m taking Sarah’s side, but because I don’t think it’s fair for her to be treated like that.

The Estranged Wife Part 3
Sarah Collins’ POV “Good morning.” George greeted with a hoarse voice. He wasn’t feeling well the entire afternoon and worked until 10 o’clock last night to finish some reports. He came home with a fever and was coughing all night. I knew he didn’t get enough sleep because of that.

The Estranged Wife Part 2
Sarah Collins’ POV I woke up early today because I needed to be in the office before 8 o’ clock to meet with my team. I glanced at the clock on the side table and it was 5:30 am, just in time to try on different outfits that I planned to wear for today, take a shower and have a decent breakfast with George. I took a shower, made a neat bun with my hair and put some light makeup on. I decided to wear my black and white colour blocked fake two piece dress and black open toe pumps. I didn’t want to be underdressed for the meeting but I certainly couldn’t afford to be overdressed and make an impression that I was the CEO. I wore a pair of pearl earrings and a gold oversized watch. I pulled back the curtain from my bedroom window to see what the weather was like outside. It was raining heavily. I grabbed a coat from my closet and left the apartment. I saw George standing at the lobby waiting for me.

The Estranged Wife Part 1
Sarah Collins’ POV I was sipping my champagne as I watched the newlyweds laugh heartily while chatting with their guests. My boss and mentor, Steve Johnson married his best friend and first love after 50 years. It was a quintessential traditional barn wedding with subtle blush and gold color scheme that complemented the golden stone interior of the barn. The Chiavari chairs and tall candlesticks added a rustic touch to it. There were fairy light chandeliers suspended from the old barn’s vaulted ceiling which gave a romantic vibe to the venue. The weathered exterior of the barn was decorated with flowers, garlands of greenery and pink and white roses. This was exactly how I pictured my perfect wedding reception to be.

You say chicken amok, I say Khmer-rific!Top Story - July 2021
When you ask anyone who has travelled to Cambodia what their favorite dish is, they will say “amok”. So what is this exotic sounding dish? Amok is a curry dish made with chicken or fish that is usually served in a bowl made from banana leaf or sometimes coconut shell. Not only the presentation is unique, but also the flavor of amok will stimulate your senses. It is just extraordinary.

My Canada Permanent Resident Journey
110,966,155. No, that is not my annual income. That figure represents the population of the Philippines as of June 15, 2021. 16.7% of the population is living under poverty line while 88.6% of the households expressed concern over their finances. Being born and growing up in a third world country, I witnessed the tragic effect of uneven distribution of wealth. Although income inequality happens everywhere, it is a lot worse in third world countries where people with massive wealth run the society. They don’t make or break the rules. They are the “rule”.

Macramé of Hope – Hobby For A Cause
Macramé is a form of art that is well liked for its impeccable style that adds texture to any surface and gives an earthy vibe. It has been the rage among crafty people recently. Macramé is an art produced using knotting techniques. It became most popular during the Victorian era which majority of the houses were decorated with this Bohemian inspired masterpieces such as tablecloths, plant hangers, draperies, etc. Now macramé is making a huge comeback. As I got temporarily laid off from work due to COVID-19, I thought of a new hobby to keep me occupied. I could say that I’m not an arty person so I wanted to challenge myself by embarking in a hobby that would bring out my creativity. My friend and I were on a video call one morning when this art piece on her wall captured my attention. I was very pleased with how it looked and how it added dimension to her wall and the entire space itself. I suddenly got curious and asked her about it. She said the art piece was a macramé. Being a person who doesn’t do things on impulse, I researched on the financial implications of macramé making. I checked the cost of materials and the tools needed in making these knotted designs. After that, I looked for a store where I could get affordable, high quality materials and checked video tutorials on YouTube. Man, it was not easy. I did practice on small pieces of macramé such as earrings and keychains before I started my first major project. My first project cost me around $50 for a new pair of scissors, cord and dowel for mounting. I purchased the cord and dowel from Modern Macramé (www.modernmacrame.com).

Beating a DNA Test - Trickery Gone Wrong
Winter shutdown. This is my favorite time of the year. I get at least 2 weeks off during this time. What makes it more fun is the two major holidays – Christmas and New Year. For someone who likes to shop cheap, Boxing Day is a huge deal for me. It is the Canadian version of Black Friday in the US. More shopping, more fun.
