Date Night Ended Early On Account of "Food Coma"
Here we were, finally connected and on our first date some twenty years ago. I remembered everything it took to get us here, having known each other for several years. It was pretty near impossible for our schedules to align. Typically, I wouldn't bring a date to a large dinner with my friends, but this was different. She was the daughter of my aunt's best friend, and the two of them had been wanting us to become acquainted for a long time. Several shared holiday dinners, and I felt we already knew each other well, or well enough. I wasted no time introducing her to my friends, even the boisterous ones. I knew this particular night was going to be fun. I won't call out the specific establishment, but I will say steak is involved.

The Sandhill Crane and the Alligator
Once upon a time, in the depths of the Florida Everglades, there lived a wise and prideful sandhill crane. He was known throughout the land and waterways as a formidable fighter and feared predator, who was always ready to take on any challenge that came his way.

My Sister Had The Last Laugh
I have been kicking around writing a story about my sister, who she was, what she meant to me, and what life is like without her in it. Unfortunately, there is no way I could capture the essence of her spirit in an article of this type. For this reason, I wanted to write about a recent occurrence that summed up both her and I's relationship, that not only reminded me of her but brought a smile to my face (eventually).

The "Emergence" of the Dragons
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. In fact, for many years, it was the most serene location. This would be the destination for any person looking to escape from society while looking for a little piece of untouched nature. It was populated with a tremendous amount of trees and ground cover. Not only was it tranquil, but it was also lush with wildlife. You wouldn't know this now by the current state of events. At first, we thought the wildfires were the effects of global warming, but it was hell on earth unleashed. During these last few months, the ground had split, and there was an outpouring that can only be described as devil hellspawn being released from within the earth.

(Apple Carplay) Finally Cord-Free
I wanted to take the time and write about a Wireless Carplay gadget I bought quite some time ago to eliminate additional wires in my automobile. Knowing I wouldn't have to have a wire from my phone directly to the radio within my car was its most significant selling feature. I have enough cables in my life, and the thought of having an additional one going from my phone to the USB Carplay connection in the vehicle was offputting. Besides, I wanted the port open on my iPhone in case it needed a proper charge. The USB connection directly to the radio offers little if any charging capability.

I Needed Warmth. It Was Time to Take the Plunge!
I had been wanting a good winter coat for quite some time but it took an excursion with my kids to push me to buy one. What do I mean by good? I have owned several ski coats over the years, and those babies are heavy. You have the outer shell and inner (fleece-like) liners, and though they keep you warm, I always believed there was something better. These coats can be bulky and cumbersome in a lot of ways.

Playing Pond Hockey in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan
Since 2007, St. Ignace, Michigan, has hosted a pond hockey tournament on Moran Bay. For those unfamiliar, St. Ignace is the first city you encounter as you cross over the Mackinac Bridge (pictured below) into the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. You are in "Yooper" territory now.

I Opted For a Wired Doorbell!
Since purchasing my first Arlo Essential Wired offering, I have installed no less than three of these in three different houses (Other family members). The experience was pretty easy in all cases, provided we had the proper voltage transformer described in my earlier article. The Arlo application has plenty of instructions and videos to help you out in various situations. One other item of note: When connecting to your WIFI network, you must link to the 2.4ghz spectrum. It will not connect using the 5ghz band.

The Apple Watch is a Game Changer!
I swore to myself I couldn't own a watch because I couldn't get used to having anything on my wrist. I relied heavily on my cell phone or the people around me for knowing what time it was. It wasn't until Apple took the concept of a watch and exaggerated all of the functions a watch can do that I noticed.

My Introduction to "Today's Advent Calendar"
My first introduction to the Advent Calendar was in German Class back in high school. Frau Hildegard Kelly, our teacher, made mention of these calendars, which became all the rage at our school during the December Christmas holiday. Everyone knew about the 12 days of Christmas but certainly not about this little calendar with 24 doors of surprises. Frau Kelly would always order the calendars in a large number as they were sure to sell out.
