A Mother's Tale
PREFACE: The world in which this story takes place is a part of a universe that I began to create in 2008 at the age of 17. This particular story was intended to be very dark, with extreme depictions of hate, oppression, and violence. I had abandoned it in 2014 with around 6,000 words. This version stands at 2,000 as it had been part of a design for the "Doomsday Diary" dystopian fiction challenge from June of 2021.

Under the Ominous Grey
I continue my endeavor down the streets of the town where I’d met my love so long ago. As I pass the store where I'd bought her heart-shaped locket, I begin to reflect upon the time before it happened, before the bombs were dropped. There was a time before it happened, right?
