How Ayurveda beneficial for thyroid treatment
The major health issue which has raised increased concern in the medical sector is “THYROID” which has potentially affected individuals at a global level and emerged as a common endocrine disorder. Studies proved that almost 42 million people alone in India are affected by the disease to a greater extent (Thyroid disorders in India: An epidemiological perspective (nih.gov)). It is categorized as a different disease due to its diagnosis, accessibility, and management through medical treatment. Thyroid disease emerges as a result of inadequate production of the thyroxin T3 and T4 hormone which directly causes a structural and functional defect in the thyroid gland leading to decrease in the secretion of the hormone. There are mainly two types of thyroid i.e., hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism which characterizes as overproduction and underproduction of thyroxin hormone respectively accompanied with variability in the symptoms and treatment. The major symptoms are fatigue, weight fluctuations, extreme sweating, and anxiety which Ayurveda believes are all the result of an unhealthy diet and most importantly due to a sedentary lifestyle. Therefore early diagnosis and treatment of the disease symptoms through effective Ayurvedic treatment remains the cornerstone for efficient management. If the treatment is delayed the person may account for serious health concerns such as heart and kidney-related disorders which are difficult to be managed.
