The Pear
There is a new Blue-Ray release of the beloved Disney classic "Mary Poppins." Here is a special deleted scene. Mary Poppins and good-natured chimneysweep Burt, along with the Banks children: Jane and Michael, are taking a stroll in a colorful, whimsical garden.

Goo Goo
1984. Summer. Opryland USA Music Theme Park in Nashville, Tennessee. Sixteen-years-old. Being a host for Opryland USA involved more than just sweeping and giving directions to the Screamin' Delta Demon; I had to be the face of the park and I relished that role. I had to realize I wasn't just picking cigarette butts from the planters and sweeping up a spilled funnel cake, I made this amazing place look even better. It wasn't just residents of Nashville there but folks from Atlanta, Chicago, Lubbock and Rio and around the planet. It was incumbent on me to be the face of the park. So I did my part to get into the spirit of music.

The Glow Man
1994. Nashville, Tennessee. Downtown. City Lights Arts and Music Festival. The streets were packed as the evening crowd ambled down Union Street. On both sides were t-shirt vendors and craft tables, a magician and a fire-breathing juggler. The intoxicating bouquet of barbeque chicken permeated the sticky air and overwhelmed my olfactory system as it moistened my tongue.

The Harpist
Summer 1984. Sixteen years old. Nashville, Tennessee. Cracker Barrel parking lot in Music Valley. I was a "host" at the music theme park Opryland USA, which is a polite way of identifying the person who walks around with a short-broom and dustpan. One sweltering day I worked the Doo-Wah-Diddy-City section of the park, which was themed after the 1950s. I took my fifteen minute break in the small, hippie colors painted room between the train tracks and the Rock n' Roller Coaster.

The Pond
It was a blustery night in the mountains. The snow was blowing sideways through the thick forest. The figure of a man struggling to stand against the wind outlined the scene. His hat was frozen to his head. He approached the small cabin hopeful of a warm smile and relief. He could see a light on.

The Corkscrew
The Corkscrew By Jason Goldtrap March 9, 2021 When I was growing up in the 70s and 80s, my hometown, Nashville, Tennessee, had a musical theme park called Opryland USA. Aside from the standard thrill rides, the park was noted for dozens of shows featuring Country, Rock, Gospel, Bluegrass and Broadway. The king of the attractions was the Wabash Cannonball.

The Bull
The Bull The man woke up dazed and confused. The first thing he recognized was the smell of hay and raw manure. He was actually thankful for the putrid mire. Although he suffered a horrendous headache he realized that it had softened the impact. Too dizzy to stand erect, he slumped to his side and began an inventory of his senses.

Fallout
It was her seventeenth birthday. She looked at her phone: 4pm exactly. Her face fell. Her best friend was right; this was a practical joke. She wondered if the cruel video of her standing in a park looking like a dork would be seen by everybody at school.
