The Paltry Killer
Two can keep a secret if one of them is dead. A quote from Benjamin Franklin. A man who when you look at his portrait, all you see is a happy looking balding man in spectacles. The man that appears on the one-hundred dollar bill. Why would this jolly, Santa-like man say something so austere?
“Couldn’t you tell I was lying when I said I loved you?” I throw the expensive pearl necklace at my husband. He doesn’t move, doesn’t even flinch when it hits him. One by one, I rip off the expensive jewelry, shoes, and billowy yellow gown. I furiously throw open the doors of my closet and change into my blue and white knee length dress, the one I had arrived at this terrible place in. as I do so Adam watches me with shock and sadness.

A Piece of the Puzzle
This would be my third school this year, and it was only November. “Don’t get attached to anything Danelle. We’ll only be here for a couple of weeks,” my mother told me, as we sat among our boxes in the living room.
Not My Future, Not My Class
Everything is so bright, so new. Nervousness ripples inside you as you struggle to find the correct room. A meeting with your guidance counselor for the next four years is waiting. You pass many classrooms, and most are labeled. You pass the science wing and shudder. Science was not a strong spot for you in high school and you're glad that those days are behind you.

Nostalgia, Memory, Dementia
Why do babies cry? They’ve been fed, changed, well rested, and loved. What else could they possibly want? Perhaps they are just sad. Perhaps they are dwelling on a memory that brings them sadness. Why else would they cry for no reason? That time when the mother left to go sleep in her own room at night could have brought feelings of abandonment.

McDonald's: Closing Shift
It’s five minutes until closing time. It’s dead silent, you’re alone up in front, and there isn’t a customer in sight. I guess can start closing up, you think cheerfully. You turn your back for not even a split second, and THEY come in. THEY being a large group of late night college kids, hungry from traveling to see a game. This is the worst group of customers you will ever experience, and they always come right before close. They are the loudest, messiest, most obnoxious group on the face of this earth.
In the Blink of an Eye
In the Blink of an Eye. The worst part was how wonderfully the day had started and how great the rest of the day was supposed to be. The whole day had been planned out. It was a beautiful, sunny Wednesday during winter break, and I had plans with my boyfriend, best friend and her boyfriend. Austin, Krissy, Bert and I wanted to have a “couples day.” We went swimming in the morning, then planned to go eat lunch at Taco John's before we went ice skating.
White and Rainbow Colors
Good memories come back in white and rainbow colors. Reflecting on them is like looking through a pane of stained glass, the voices ringing sharp as crystal.
