Of Cog Railways and Witches
We got to the cog rail station 15 mins before departure to make the hour long journey up Pikes Peak. You’d think we weren’t meant to go because of the hassle that it took to get there. We left with enough time to spare, or so we thought. Our Airbnb was roughly an hour and a half away from Pikes Peak and the GPS indicated that traffic was clear. Getting to Manitou Springs was a breeze. It was getting through this small community that presented issues.

The Changelings
They first appeared after an avalanche at Mt. Credence. It’s believed that they were somehow trapped under the snow on the mountains and the avalanche uncovered them. They were first spotted by a park ranger on of the trails that many hikers frequented. During this time of year, there weren’t many park visitors because of how cold it gets near the mountain and likelihood of getting lost increased.

New Normal
Green light. Traffic’s light for a Friday morning. Cars are moving at a steady pace, heading to destinations only known by their driver. Driver’s putting on makeup or having private concerts. Other’s thinking about what the day will hold, having phone conversations. As I’m driving, I’m praying that my worst nightmare isn’t becoming reality.
