The Space Man who didn't want to hear - in space.
Alien from Earth Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. Wondering if that is actually true is something that consumed Abe daily, as he awakened in his space pod nestled in the center galaxy - between planets 3 and 6. He ignored the mild ache in his back remedied by a stretching upwards and arching, as he peered through the transparent walls of his floating abode. He knew he could adapt himself against the pain, but he chose not to. Unlike his partner - his wife of now 70 decades - a feat made possible by human genetic regeneration. The human race had been saved by technology.

Uber Dog
Trixie was a Great Dane who stayed with us until the incredible age of a day short of 12. She was a great dog - the best!! It's almost cliche to say - most people adore and love their dog(s). They give us so much unconditional love. We love them despite all the annoyances and inconveniences: they bark, chew, wake you up too early, they're stinky, shed, etc. These are usually the things that you miss the most - even the really naughty things. Once in a while, a truly special one comes along...

The Golden Sapling
She would not trade it for anything - no treasure could equate to the intrinsic value of this tree. The fruit it grew to bear was her gold. The sweet, ripe deliciousness alone was something that epicurean feasts were made of. But that was not it.

I originally wrote this story in my high school English class in the mid-eighties. It is about my mother’s childhood during the war. I wanted to recount everything she told me about this brief healing period of time that meant so much to her. It offered her stability and security in times full of fear, terror, and uncertainty.

Judith was very young - around 7 or 8 years old. It was the 1970’s. Carefree days. Days of disco and VW’s. Shows like Welcome Back Kotter on TV, and The Love Boat, Fat Albert, Gilligan’s Island, The Electric Company...were some of her favorites...

Shark Tank
I grew up near lakes in Canada but dreamed of oceans. This was likely due to winter trips to Florida in my childhood. I have an inborn preference for still water - likely due to swimming on silky black lakes and some very Zen canoe trips. Decades later, I live on the Southern U.S. coast by the Pacific Ocean.
