FIX Gaps in Teeth
Today, we're going to delve into the topic of black triangles and explore how to treat them. Black triangles are those areas along the gum line where gum tissue is missing, creating a void. From a distance, these voids can appear dark, resembling something stuck between your teeth, like a piece of pepper. This can lead to self-consciousness, especially when others mistake it for food particles. In reality, it's a gap in the gum tissue. As a cosmetic dentist, I encounter black triangles frequently, and I've identified two primary reasons for their occurrence. The first reason is the shape of the tooth itself. Some people have triangular-shaped teeth, and there isn't enough gum tissue at the base to form a proper triangle. The second common cause is post-orthodontic or post-Invisalign treatment. While these treatments align the teeth correctly, sometimes the gums can't fully fill the spaces, especially when dealing with triangular teeth.
