Every morning she woke up with to the painting on her ceiling, a painting that she created herself. Her two favorite things, a sunflower, and a butterfly. The Sunflower has a gold tint to its petals with the signature black center. The blue butterfly was a nice contrast to the golden yellow flower. Justine was always a talented artist and always came in first place in the children’s art shows. The painting she was currently admiring, she painted at just 14 years old. She had a hard time trying to convince her mom to let her paint the ceiling. Finally, after ensuring that paint would not drip onto the beige carpet or her queen size bed, her mother gave in. After 3 days the painting was finished, and only one drop got on the carpet.
In April 2021, I was visiting my family and was at my sister’s house. While we were sitting in her living room someone came to her door and dropped something off. We went to check to see what it was, it was a gift basket type thing, but it had some wine and other stuff in it. I asked her what this was, and she told me that she is in a Facebook group that is local to her community. She said that they sign up and participate in gifting wine baskets to other participants. She told me it was fun and that she liked doing it because sometimes she will have a bad day and a gift will come and make her day better.

His grandfather opened his own restaurant; his father took over and made the restaurant a franchise. His father was a successful business man that had restaurants in every state from New York to California. Charles’s mother was a doctor, not much is known about her parents, she was an orphan. Charles himself was a successful business owner, he owned the local bar. With the money his father and grandfather made Charles lived a nice life, the only thing he wanted was power.

In February of 2020, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Let me rewind a little further. In November of 2019 we found out I was pregnant, we were thrilled. I have a history of miscarriages, and learned that I have an autoimmune disorder. Since I had this autoimmune disorder and I work all sorts of chemicals my doctor placed me on a leave from work stating I was a high risk. So I just stayed home with my 4 year old and waited for our little new buddle to grow and make her entrance.
A year ago, I got the call. I can still hear the radiologist voice, “The results are a shock. We were not expecting this. Your biopsy showed cancerous cells.”
He clenched the heart shaped locket that once belonged to his sister. He wore it around his neck as a reminder. A reminder that his dream job killed his entire family, but it wasn’t just his family’s blood on his hands. He remembers the look on his sister’s face, the screams of innocent people, and the anger that he felt.
