The Significance of the Republic Day:
The Republic Day is not just a national holiday, but it holds great significance in the history of India. It marks the day when India adopted its own Constitution and became a sovereign republic. The Constitution, which was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on 26th November, 1949, came into effect on 26th January, 1950, making India the largest democracy in the world. The Constitution lays down the fundamental rights and duties of citizens, and the powers and structure of the government, ensuring justice, equality and liberty for all citizens.
