Keep It Simple, Stupid!
"Nothing ever goes right," I'd say to my mom. I couldn't see that she was making things harder than necessary. I was young and didn't know better, so I wasn't aware that things were malfunctioning because of how they were being handled. I'd observe problems with a simple solution being solved in more complicated ways, so that's how I thought life was.

I have Bipolar Disorder II and ADHD. ADHD was evident when I was a young child. I was always bouncing off of the walls. It was always said that I was “just a hyperactive child,” but that was the 80s when a child that talked too much and too fast and couldn’t sit still and focus was simply called “hyper.” Hyper kids were punished back then because it was seen as misbehaving.

The Worn Spot on the Floor
The smell of summer morning was replaced by the sweet aroma of bacon frying when I opened my grandma’s door. She always made sure there was plenty of that salty delicacy on the kitchen table because my cousin and I loved to graze on it all morning while consuming glass upon glass of the sweet tea in the brown ceramic pitcher.
