Not quite 32 Flavors of Religion
With the bulk of Islamic holidays passed for the year, and the Judeo-Christian season gearing up it is the perfect time to jump into a topic sure to raise eyebrows and probably ire among the faithful. That's right, as I have proven before, almost no topic is taboo for my regular posts here.

How would you feel?
Here I go again, jumping into a hornet’s nest that has controversy all over it. You knew I would get around to talking about the Pandemic, Masking, Vaccines, etc. eventually. Well, today is that day. Prompted by the news that there is a potential vaccine on the horizon that has been 90% effective in over 35k trial inoculations; on the same day as the State of Maine has set a record high for the most cases in a single day again with over 200 reported. Yes, I realize that 200 cases does not seem like a lot of cases compared to other global locations, but in a state with just over a million people that had been averaging less than 30 cases a day all summer, this is a big change.

Please Disagree with Me
Here in the US it is election season, in fact the day I am writing this is Election Eve. Across the country people have been voting early in precincts that allow it and, due to the pandemic, millions of Americans have chosen absentee voting this year. I don’t know the actual numbers, but I know all the reports I have heard indicate that absentee and early voting are setting records. That is a great thing. Being engaged in the political process, when you have an opportunity to influence, even in a minor way, the direction of your community, state and nation please do so.

Everyone for Themselves
I guess I am on a bit of a roll at this point, writing things that maybe controversial to some, but really are fundamental things that should be in the hearts and minds of all of us humans on Earth. My views may not be the same as yours, and that is perfectly fine. The important thing is that when you compose your viewpoint and own it from beginning to end and at every point along the way, that you consider what you believe from every angle. Take time before you commit yourself to expressing your feelings, your hopes and dreams as you may be called to defend or explain them.

Live Your Own Truth
This again will likely fall into an area that people may find uncomfortable, or they may disagree strongly with my position. That is fine. Either of those results means that you are at least thinking about what I am writing here. That means I am achieving at least one of my stated “E’s” Enlightenment or if you just laugh all the way through, Entertainment. If I do a really good job I may also Encourage certain people.

Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing
Being genuine, true and real is of unbelievable value in this world filled with “fake news”, misleading advertising and outright fraud. It seems to me the world would be a much better place if people stuck to the truth even if it is painful. Think about the impact it would have on relationships; whether at work, school, socially or in the family situations if people could count on each other to be honest and forthright in all of their dealings. Something as simple as the perpetual question of whether or not an outfit “makes me look fat” or “Do you think I’m qualified for this job?” or “What do you think of this piece of art I made?” Being frank may not spare someone’s feelings, but consider perhaps that we have gone too far away from the truth in a misguided attempt to comfort each other or “cushion the blow” of reality. What would really happen if everyone was just honest.

Light in a Dark Time
Everyday we are surrounded by the grim realities of the world. In 2020 in particular we are confronting a global pandemic that has claimed, at the time of this writing, over 1 million lives with no end in sight. Throughout the world people are continually profiled, disrespected, oppressed, injured or killed simply for the color of their skin or their chosen religion. The possibility of Civil Discourse is an absurdity. Common courtesy is not only uncommon, but a foreign concept all together among our political leaders.
