Kara King & The Beyonders: The Nightwind Glyder Heist
Chapter Fourteen: Clash Time to Supernova: 0m Kara King Kara felt the kick. Everything rocked for a brief moment as the electromagnetic pulse from the supernova met the Nightwind Glyder. The lights went out in a rush. Kara wasn’t worried though, her hands had been hovering over the glass for the last few minutes. She was committing the simple image to mind so that she wouldn’t grab the wrong object. Kara lifted the glass panel outward, reached under it, and grabbed onto what could only be explained as a lone handle of something.

Chapter Thirteen: Exfil Time to Supernova: 15m Kara King & Canis Odo Kara spoke with Gita the whole way through. Spoke being figurative term on both sides. Their whispers carried through almost like unhindered speaking thanks to the small implants all The Beyonders had. Gita needed someone to keep her awake but that need ended just ten minutes ago when Canis gave word that the emperor and his entourage were leaving.

Chapter Twelve: Theft Time to Supernova: 2h 47m WHR4, Sagita Astel Moaan, Kara King WHR4 had just finished his task. He turned from the bedroom looking out over a balcony where he could hear movement. The bot moved from the bed to the closet which was deep and filled with an assortment of clothes. There weren’t any good places to hide but this would have to be it. WHR4 turned out the light as he navigated deeper into the room. He reached the far end where some sets of luggage had been stored.

Chapter Ten: Promenade Time to Supernova: 4h 0m Canis Odo The doors to the promenade of The Nightwind Glyder had long been open. This area of the ship had to be the largest space on the ship. It almost looked modeled after those twentieth and twenty-first century earth malls. Several floors with walkways on either side of a long, seemingly endless parade of stores, food vendors, and art exhibitions. In the center of the long stretch was a wide tube. An aquarium tank stretching from floor to ceiling with fish hailing from too many planets for Canis to count. Occasionally an add for a shop on the strip or a food vendor would flash across, indicating tube which appeared to be solid glass actually had some sort of display or projection function.

Chapter Nine: Fixer Time to Supernova: 7h 42m Zee Berstol Everything was dark save for a dim green light. There were voices but they were mostly muffled. Suddenly there was movement. The green luminescence changed to a blinking yellow light indicating it was unsafe to push the button. The darkness moved from one entity to another. The tone of the voices changed. He could feel the darkness move a long distance with various sounds muffled around him. The beat and hum of music. People singing. Then the quite of a hallway. He could barely make out the sound of a door wooshing open and a nearby voice say, “Just put it over there.”

Chapter Seven: Stellar Time to Supernova: 6h 54m Sagita Astel-Moaan Sagita watched Kara get ready and go without a word. She was off to get the droid from whatever room qualified as a robotics lab or holding facility. It was better this way. Commander King wasn’t oblivious to what Sagita did best. No, all of them had killed before on missions in the past. Sagita, and Maxwell for that matter, both felt that it was something they could easily do for Kara. Keep her hands clean as best as they could. If things ever went south, she knew she could count on her commander to plan a way to break them free or use her connections to absolve the crew of any crimes they may have committed. In some ways, it helped that they had a well-respected captain, a well-respected crew for that matter in their respective fields. Despite the messy business they seemed to always come out on top.

Chapter Six: Breach Time to Supernova: 7h 45m Gamlok of the Burning House The muffled sounds of voices faded away but just in case Gamlok waited an extra three seconds. Still nothing. The Morae pressed hard against the hidden cache panel, but it didn’t budge. His patience was thin, not that there was something particular to enrage him, that’s just how Morae are. The brute punched twice throwing the panel clear off its setting. He stretched outside the crawlspace hidden underneath one of the benches in The Ersatz. He looked at the panel and where he came from halfway remembering Commander King had said something about it sliding but instead pushed the thought away. There was a job to be done. Of course, these jobs never came without complications and Gamlok heard one coming.

Chapter Five: Oracle Time to Supernova: 7h 22m Canis Odo “Throck Morton, still riding the high from liberating the Aethersprites?” Canis stepped forward and grabbed the glass of Atilesian Whiskey. He turned his head back and gave a half wink to Kara and Gita in a way Throck couldn’t see. He looked down at the glass and shot it. He never much had the taste for the smokey beverage and for him this was the only way it was going down. “Barkeep, we’ll have another one of those for my companion here and an artichoke liqueur.” Canis took Throck by the arm in a dignified way as if they were a pair of ladies strolling through a garden in the Earth regency era. A nod to the bartender indicated that he should have the beverages ready at the far end of the bar, away from where Kara and Gita finished checking in.

Chapter Four: Reception Time to Supernova: 7h 42m Kara King The Ersatz hardly touched down before security forces swarmed the hangar. Kara immediately turned from the cockpit and made for the door as it dropped to form a ramp. She made sure to walk with enough of a strut that her cape flowed behind her. She had a part to play here.
