Foggy Road
The road surrounding the water was shrouded in fog, thick and soupy. The man could not see past the reach of his headlight beams, and he leaned forward in his seat, his hands at eleven and two, squinting into the night. He was close to his destination, but the dark and the fog rendered the familiar road unrecognizable, and he couldn’t tell how much further he had to go.

A Dragon's Tale
There is a dragon who has established herself in my life. She is an older dragon, perhaps 12, which is a pretty good age for a dragon. I don’t know much about her life before she set herself up here; she is not forthcoming with that information and in general, the life of a dragon is quite mysterious. I do know that she lived for some time in another land. Because dragons have a difficult time cleaning their teeth, so she doesn’t have any fangs left, but make no mistake - she is still quite ferocious when needed. Absolutely nothing is scarier than a toothless dragon snarling at you, and she can deal a pretty ferocious bite; rather than feeling like a bite, it feels like being caught in a bear trap. Because she is a senior dragon, she spends a lot of time napping, snorting smoke out of her nose. But when she is not asleep, snorting smoke out of her nose, she is most likely out and about, flying around in search of food or treats, perhaps more biscuits to add to the hoard that she has hidden in my car’s center console. I have gotten the very strong feeling that she is pretty excited about food and always looking for something to eat. Although she is small, just a toy dragon, a mere eight-pounds, she is mighty, and has established herself with the dogs in the house as the boss. No one messes with the dragon.

The Girl in the Pond
There is a pond in the old pear orchard. Every year, it freezes over, and kids love to skate on it, making spirals and figure eights until the cold reaches through their leather skates and their thick wool socks and reaches their tiny toes, and tells them it’s time or hot cocoa cinnamon cookies.

MS at 19
My MS story starts before me. My paternal grandmother had MS. By the time I knew her, she was in a wheelchair. I thought it was great to sit in her lap and be pushed outside to enjoy the Tucson roadrunners. I remember her as a very quiet soul, with a lovely smile. She was an artist.

The Shark Maiden
He couldn’t stop looking at her. She sat at the end of the bar, in a silver grey jumpsuit, one arm cover and the other left bare, exposing an intricate shark tattoo on her inner arm. She bwas alone, but her body made clear that hat she was there with herself, not by herself. That strength made her magnetic. He watched her drink her bloody Mary, the salt sticking to her lips before she licked the granules off. Her hair was black and hung straight as a razor.

Knit one, purl two
Knitting is crafting for the analytical and structured mind. There are rules to knitting. Patterns to follow. Drop a stitch or knit in front instead of in back, and your pattern is altered. For perfectionists, this type of responsibility is perfect.
