Writing Life
It had been a beautiful morning to stroll with Jacob through the local public gardens. Edna held her young son's hand as she pointed out the various flowers and other plants. He was happiest when they got to the vegetable gardens of course. At 4 years old, Jacob preferred fresh veggies and fruits to sweet snacks. Edna didn't know how that happened because she had a sweet tooth a mile wide.

Triple Chocolate Cake
I was expecting the care package from my grandmother to come any day now, so I wasn't surprised to see one sitting by my mailbox. What surprised me was how it looked, wrapped in dirty brown paper that looked like it might have been part of a grocery bag at one time. My father's mother had more money than she knew what to do with. There was no way the package could possibly come from her. Mimi, as she preferred to be called, would probably have a heart attack if she even saw this.

Under The Pear Tree
The days flew by as Caroline watched Jeremy weaken from cancer that ravaged his body. Their time together was limited now. It tore at her heart like no other loss ever had or would. She spent the morning sitting on the front porch, drinking coffee and staring at the pear tree in the middle of the front yard. Remembering their past; how that tree had barely been producing fruit when they met under it all those years ago.
