There are two kinds of ways to live a great life: there is economic success and there is social success.
While I love Netflix and HBO, I still have a special place in my heart for the broadcast networks because I grew up with them. Many of the new shows on traditional networks this Fall are the shows I have been looking forward to the most all year. There are five that I was most curious about: The Orville, Star Trek: Discovery, Young Sheldon, Will & Grace, and Inhumans. Time to reveal if these shows were worth the wait.
I'm a huge fan of Saturday Night Live. I mean HUGE. Think of your favorite TV show and multiply your love for it by 3 and you've probably got a good idea of how big a fan I am. The main reason why I like it is because the writing is so clever and its parodies are so accurate.
I would like to address a common complaint within the TV world about there being too many good shows and not enough time to watch them.
Some people say you shouldn't listen to the hype. You should see the movie and judge for yourself. However, I have to take a moment here to praise movie hype in the first half of 2017 because it has been spot-on.
To me, the greatest thing about television these days is that there are so many good shows to choose from. However, a common complaint of the golden age of television is that there are so many good shows on TV right now that it's impossible to watch them all. The existence of DVR and on-demand streaming sites like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon have not made things much easier. That's why I'm narrowing it down for you. I have made a list of the ten shows currently on the air that stand out the most in the tidal wave of viewing options, accompanied by descriptions of what I think makes them so great. As far as I'm concerned these are the shows that should be put on the top of your viewing list.
