Journal of the End?
"It's eerily quiet" I said to Vince. "No, not any more than usual" he answers while he tinkers with yet another piece of wood to use as a fire poker and sometimes wolf deterrent. "Ugh, would you stop what you're doing for a second and listen to me?" I grab his arm urgently but not enough to cause pain. He looks at me startled, then sees the look on my face. I mouth "Shhhhh" and hold my index finger up to my mouth with my other hand. He looks up into the sky, takes a deep breath, and exhales as he brings his head back down with his eyes closed. Closed, so he can really listen. We stand there quiet, with just the faintest rustle of leaves above from the tall oaks and sycamores that surround us.

Is it a Bald Eagle?
Recently while on my layover in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, I took a walk around the lovely little downtown. I didn't have enough time to go skiing, tubing, or anything wintry. I couldn't really sightsee either, as we had arrived late the night before and getting up early was out of the question. Touring the town was as close to "when in Rome" as my schedule would permit, and outside I ventured with a positive attitude that I was able to at least do that.

It all starts with a list....
I kept seeing posts all over social media of how people were bored during the pandemic. I didn't understand that. Being a long standing member of the social butterfly family, you'd think the staying put, don't socialize thing would drive me nuts. But I found myself with more than enough to do. I had a "I'll get to that someday" list. But the pandemic quickly taught me that even my To Do List needed revising. My intuition simply told me - make use of this time, be productive. March and April were easy months to keep busy as the weather wasn't always pushing me outside in Boston. But I needed a routine and a checklist. I wanted to come out on the other end of this feeling that I had accomlished something other than laundry and cooking. Not necessarily something new, just SOMETHING other than watching everything on Netflix.
