I'm just a regular guy that loves his pen almost as much as his family! Seriously, I'm a short story writer that loves music and horror movies.
Musical Family Tree
It was a typical Saturday afternoon, sitting in my bedroom, playing cards with my sons. While playing a semi-competitive series of games of Blackjack, the boys and I were talking and the conversation of supporting/opening bands came up. I explained to them that a supporting band or an opening band was a band that performed before a headlining band and benefitted from their fan base. I told stories about the concerts and festivals that I’ve attended and the bands I’ve been introduced to as a result.

It's been days and I still haven't heard from her. No one has. She isn't returning any of my calls or my texts. Michelle hasn't either. She said that Venus left in the middle of the night or very early morning before she or Janet had woken up the next day. Her mom said that she came home and packed a bag and was going to be gone for a bit - to clear her head. Working overnights, I don't get to see her at work. Guess she hasn't been there. I'm concerned. Why would she just up an-

My father. I don't know him. Admittedly, I don't even think about it. It's not like he was there and left. He never existed. I've heard all kinds of stories about him and, as a kid, I believed them. That is, until I watched TV and realized exactly how crazy my mom was. I was about nine when I was watching some old show on TV with my grandpa. I pointed to the screen at the guy Mom said was my dad. I was proudly imitating the guy, mimicking all his moves. By the time I paused long enough to see Grandpa's face, the look of disapproval was apparent. I froze dead in my tracks and my eyes started to well up. His eyes did too.

Ah! Finally, some peace and relaxation! The inside of the car is one of the only places in all of Kingston I feel calm. Kingston isn’t exactly known for conventional thinking. The most unconventional place in town is Waterman’s General Store and the locals are incredibly loyal to the Watermans. Here, Waterman’s is the premier store in town and was even able to run Walmart out of town. Seriously!

Such Is Life: Episode I By Dwan L. Hearn I knew better! Dammit, I knew better. The moment I got up this morning I felt it - Today was going to suck. THE moment I woke up this morning I knew it was going to be a bad day. At 5 o'clock this morning, my alarm went off and I jammed my finger hitting the snooze button. It was only after this that I realized that it was the alarm on my phone that was going off NEXT to my alarm clock. It didn't make any sense for my alarm clock to be going off anyway. I rarely use it. But you got to give me a break. I was literally awake for, like, 1.8 seconds. I was still trying to process the dream I had. I was on an island attempting to repair a boat so I could sail away from the big storm that was about to start. I know. Doesn't make sense to me either. Why would I be fixing a boat, on an island, to get away from a storm? I'm still going to get rained on and it'd just fill the boat. I know... weird.
All The Beauty of a Rainbow
I once read that the best way to find peace in one’s life is to arrange your life in its own order. It’s best to not yell. Low should be one’s tone – draws in serenity. Surround yourself with nature; green grass and blue skies. Joy isn’t found in “the go”. Joy is found in “the stop” - slow down. Someone’s love is something you should never vie or let be used as a weapon. Love should only be a given, like a gift, with all the beauty of a rainbow.
