The Halloween Abductions (Ch. 4)
Abbeville, AL For the most part, Josiah Hindson was safe and content. His parents would be somewhat relieved to know how well he was being taken care of. After only two days, he still cried for his mommy and daddy on a regular basis. He was well-fed and warm and clean. It helped that there were two other children in his new accommodations with whom he happily interacted. For a four year old, it was just like visiting in the home of new friends. There were plenty of toys to play with, and there was a very agreeable kitten to which Josiah quickly attached himself. There was a young lady there who acted like a mommy. She even tried to console and rock Josiah when he would get sleepy or begin crying for his own mommy.
The Halloween Abductions (Ch. 3)
Chapter 3 November 1, 2016 - Abbeville, AL 7 AM, Carly Hindson awakes, relieved that the night before was just a bad dream. Then in just a few seconds, the stabbing heart pains begin as she realizes it wasn’t a dream. She had cried herself to sleep the night before. Now she is angry with herself for falling asleep, not realizing that maybe it was forced on her by God, so her body could begin to restore itself. The coming days would be harder and she would need a strength that only her heavenly Father could grant. Seth Hindson still had not slept. He had wanted to stay out with the search party, but it was suggested by a police officer that he stay at the house with his wife and wait in case there was a ransom call. His wife needed him there too. It took all he could do not to fall apart. Prayer and faith kept him strong. When Carly awoke, Seth had coffee and bagels waiting for her. Normally, he would get up and fix a full southern style breakfast, but that just wasn’t in him this morning. Neither of them felt like eating anyway. They decided to hold hands, pray, and cry together. Then as they took a few sips of their coffee, they began to retrace the events of the night before and see if they could come up with any answers.
The Halloween Abduction (Ch 2)
Abbeville, AL is a little town nestled between the small town of Headland, AL and the tourist city of Eufaula, AL. It is a town where much of the population put a high emphasis on faith and family. Like many cities in the South, life is centered around church, school, and football. Churches and schools in these rural cities were usually small and family run. Although in churches, people come and go, and pastors generally serve from two to seven years, usually two or three families have a long history in the church and are always representative of the deacon board, pulpit community, treasury ministry, and leadership teams. In small, rural towns like Abbeville, everyone knows everyone. Many of these towns usually have an unspoken code of secrecy and confidentiality. Even if there are people who don’t like each other, they are a close knit group of people. They will gossip all day long about each other, but when it comes to exposing someone for a crime or injustice, it usually won’t happen. The members of and community surrounding Lake Community Baptist Church was just such an example.
The Halloween Abductions
This is a chapter taken from my book: THE HALLOWEEN ABDUCTIONS Chapter 1 October 31, 2016 - Abbeville, AL All she could see were the moving lights outside her window. There was darkness—nothing but darkness—with the exception of the flashlights moving across the yard and into the woods. Then there were the sounds—barking dogs, continuous barking. There were voices; calling to each other, signaling... It was loud and echoing. The sounds begin to fade as the search and rescue team move away from the church yard and through the woods, then scattered onto the surrounding properties. All she could feel was the pounding of her heart and the tears streaming down her face. Her child, her only child, her little boy was missing. The thoughts in her head were crowding her brain: was he still alive? Was he cold and scared? Did he think his mommy had abandoned him? Why would God allow this to happen to an innocent little boy? She just wanted to scream, to hit someone, to… no, she just wanted to hold her little boy again.
Cartoons and Young Children
Cartoons and the Child's Psyche: Is There Really an Impact? GARBAGE IN, GARBAGE OUT! This popular idiom refers the concept that input equals output. Whether it be a business venture, a technological programming, or a personal health regimen, the results will equal the input. The same is true of human attitude and behavior, especially in reference to impressionable young children. In order to understand how outside factors (such as animated TV shows) affect a child, one must first understand the stages of development in a human’s life. For those in the preschool stages, brain development is largely at play.
My Favorite Men
On January 2, 2018, in the early morning hours, my wonderful father took his last breath. This man was our family patriarch. He took the role of father and husband seriously. He was hard-working, faithful to the love of his life (my mother), devoted to his children, respectful to his parents, sacrificial for his students, and committed to his Savior. My daddy was not perfect, but he was pretty close. He instilled, in me, a love for education and a passion for family. Integrity and morality was of the utmost importance to him. Men like my daddy are rare these days. His passing has left a great void for many who loved him.
Building Healthy Relationship (Pt. 3)
Life constantly demands changes. There are things we must often change to secure jobs or complete projects. We may have to change our schedules to accommodate life's demands. But should we change the essence of who we are to please someone else? Should we alter our interests and/or personalities to preserve relationships?
Building Healthy Relationships (Pt. 4)
What is negative energy? The answer to that question depends on religious and philosophical views. Whether one views positive/negative energy as a part of a metaphysical life source or a cognitive and behavioral choice, negative energy is powerful. It impacts the emotional and mental atmosphere in which it is present.
Building Healthy Relationships (Pt. 2)
We have all dealt with jealousy at some point in our lives, or at least, if we haven't, we will. Either we have had to deal with another's jealousy or we have exhibited the emotion ourselves. Jealousy is natural. Under the right circumstances, it emerges. Usually, we can deal with it. We contemplate and rationalize and realize that either immaturity, selfishness, or insecurity is at play. Occasionally, the jealousy becomes uncontrollable and grows into a monster.
