Food photographers use transparent plastic cubes instead of real ice cubes in beverage ads. Obviously, the main idea is to keep the drink the same way under hot studio lights. Plastic ice cubes don't melt, but they also look great on camera. This one is my favorite because I wouldn't think of it for millions of years.

Mystery of werewolf
the woeful sound of howling Echoes across the still night air sending a chill to the blood silhouetted against the Eerie face of the full moon as a strange creature half man half wolf a werewolf it is estimated that over a period of 300 years from the 14th to the 17th century up to 100 000 people were executed in Europe on the charge of being a werewolf the lycanthropy epidemics as they were known caused a real fear across the continent in this story I will explore the myths and legends surrounding werewolves from their origins in ancient folklore to their modern day depictions we'll look at the different interpretations of wells some that are believed to be the result of a curse whilst others believed to be worshipers of Satan and the work of the devil are they really Flesh and Blood creatures or just beastly apparitions hit those lines sit back load your silver bullets and enjoy sometimes things happen that are just beyond our now if you haven't already done so hit those lights sit by back and enjoy the livonian werewolf these of carltonbroom commonly referred to as the livonian werewolf was an elderly livonian man who was arrested in 1692 for heresy at his trial these shocked the judge by openly declaring himself to be a werewolf claiming that he ventured into hell with other wells in order to do battle with the devil and his witches he claimed that on the night of Saint Lucia's day Pentecost and Saint John's day he and the other werewolves transformed from their human bodies into wolves these explained he had first become a werewolf when he was a beggar on the streets of Sweden where he met a man who drank a toast to him and gave him the ability to transform into a wolf he said he could then pass on his ability to transform into a wolf to someone else by toasting them breathing Into The Jug three times and proclaiming you will become like me these stated that he and the other werewolves wandered around local farms and ripped apart any farm animals they came across before roasting the meat and devouring it and they all traveled to a place that was located Beyond the Sea where they entered into hell there they met the devil and battled with him and his loyal malevolent witches beating them with long iron rods and chasing them like dogs however he claimed that he was a Hound of God and he was a werewolf for the good of Christianity not against it the judge disagreed and deemed him guilty of trying to turn people away from Christianity and he was sentenced to be both flogged and banished for life the Welsh werewolf Wales is not the first place you think of when talking about werewolves but it seems It's had its fair share of stories about strange wolf-like creatures the first recorded event Happened One Night in 1790 at the time the moon had acquired a strange red Hue which the locals believed to be a bad sign an omen of impending evil the moon lit the way as a stagecoach traveled between Denby and wrexham when its Journey was halted when an enormous black beast lunged at the coach from the shadows and attacked the horses it tore one of them to shreds and the other Broke Free and galloped off into the darkness pursued by the wolf-like Beast little more than a year later a farmer from the grassford area discovered tracks in the snow but these were no ordinary tracks they were huge and could only have been produced by an enormous creature fearing for his safety the farmer called on a local blacksmith to follow the tracks with him which led them to a neighboring Farm there they were confronted with a Total Carnage the snow was a shade of deep red and not a single animal had survived they'd all been torn to shreds cattle sheep and even the farmer's sheepdog the men approached The Farmhouse fearing the worst and to their relief the farmer appeared unharmed although he had barricaded himself in he told them how he had watched in horror as an enormous black wolf-like animal had set upon his animals and then chased him before he managed to lock himself in the house the Beast foamed at the mouth as it reared up on the Windows trying to get in the locals believed at the time that only a werewolf could have inflicted such damage to livestock and they organized a hunt but despite covering plenty of tracks no werewolf was found seven years later the Beast struck again the two men witnessed the chilling silhouette of the creature against the rising it lifted its head and let out a howl but struck fear into their hearts the werewolf had returned scared for their lives the two men took shelter in a nearby Inn the next day many wood about five miles from the Inn the bodies of two vagrants were found they had been mutilated beyond belief and appeared to have been slashed to a virtual pulp by something with blade-like claws both their heads were missing and appeared to have been ripped on their bodies one head was later found minus its face and ears shortly after the incident one of the local ministers received a strange letter the writer claimed that the two men had been killed by a werewolf that had been stalking the area for more than 100 years and that to avoid a similar fate befalling anyone else he should paint crosses on each door in the village he claimed that the werewolf embodied the spirit of an evil warlock who had been burned to the stake in the 1400s by the ancestors of the village Folk the horrific Killing Spree is finally deceased and it seemed that the reign of the Welsh werewolf was over at least for now War Cemetery werewolf in 2009 a supernatural survey revealed 2012 sightings have been reported at cannock Chase the famous paranormal hotspot in England the report was put together by lead paranormal researcher Lionel fanthrop who studied police reports and Archives of groups who explored Ghostly and unexplained events to correlate the sightings it showed that in 1975 a paranormal group encountered a starling beast in the woods it reared up on its hind legs and ran off into the bushes a similar sighting was reported in 2007 when a West Midlands ghost Club had been called in to investigate claims from people who'd seen a werewolf type creature prowling around the chase the wolf was seen walking upright in the German War Cemetery on Camp Road the credible eyewitness accounts came from a local scoutmaster and a postman who claimed they'd come face to face with the werewolf at first they thought it was a large dog and so it raised up on its haunches revealing its full height was over seven foot a month after this sighting a story was printed in a local paper claiming the werewolf could actually be a Subterranean Stone Age throwback that could have lived for centuries in the old mines under characters only surfacing when they needed to eat this could also explain The Disappearance of a number of domestic pets that have gone missing over the years in the area around the War Cemetery as you have mentioned before on this channel cannock Chase is a hot spot for all things paranormal and adding a werewolf into the mix seems quite plausible seeing as it's considered to be the most haunted location in the UK the reincarnated werewolf of ainsback in 1685 a wolf began attacking Livestock in the Bavarian town of ainsbach before long the beast moves on to humans and killed several children within a few months the terrified villager believed this was no ordinary wolf but rather a werewolf they claimed was The Reincarnation of Michael light the detested former Burger Master veins back who had recently passed away they believed he had escaped Eternal death by transforming his Spirit into the body of a wolf the locals were determined to hunt down the wolf to protect their children and free the town from the spirit of the hated Burgermaster they prepared a wolf pant with stone walls about three or four meters deep and covered with branches they placed a dead rooster at the bottom of the pit to lure the Beast after several hours the wolf fell into the hole and was killed by hunters however that was not the end of the story the animal carcass was paraded through the streets to show the danger was over but since this was no ordinary wolf but a werewolf what they did next was truly grotesque after skinning the animal the men severed its muzzle and placed on its head a mask with lights features they then dressed in a wig and a cloak and hung The Wolf on a gibbert erected on a nearby Hill the ritual had a double Purpose By depriving The Wolf of its fur and replacing it with human clothes showed Satan that his trick did not work and at the towns people could recognize the man concealed in the body of the Beast it also served as the post-execution of the former ruler who the people failed to overthrow in life and to send a grim warning to the new burger Master not to make the same mistake as the old one U.S Wildlife experts are baffled by a wolf-like animal that was killed by a Montana farmer in 2018 a mysterious wolf-like creature was shot dead in the U.S it baffled Wildlife experts who had no idea what it was the animal was killed by a farmer after he spotted it worrying his Livestock in Denton Montana soon Theory circulated online suggesting anything from a young grizzly bear a coyote hybrid or proof that werewolves exist experts confirmed it was a member of the dog family that includes dogs foxes coyotes and wolves although it didn't have traditional wolf features because its teeth were too short and Claws too large and there was something off about it to this day it's still not confirmed so could it be the elusive werewolf or just a wolf dog hybrid bred in captivity and released into the wild what do you think The Werewolf of Alaris in 19th century Spain serial killer Manuel Blanco Roma Santa claimed the reason for his murderous Reign was because he was a wolf manual was born into a wealthy family in Northwest Spain however his parents believed him to be female and originally named him Manuela his gender confusion was not resolved until a doctor corrected them six years later in his early teens Manuel stopped growing and stood at just four foot six tall as an adult he worked as a tailor and a tour guide he married briefly but his wife died suddenly in 1833 after which Manuel became a traveling salesman through Spain and Portugal in 1844 he was charged with murder after he killed Vincent Fernandez the Constable of Leon but Manuel didn't attend his trial and instead went on the Run for many years he worked jobs considered abnormal for men in those times including yarn making and cooking and resumed his work as a tour guide however his clients started disappearing Manuel kept up correspondence with the families of the missing so they were none the wiser the ruse worked for a time until Manuel was spotted selling clothes belonging to the missing people in 1852 a complaint was filed in the city of escalona that claimed Manuel had turned the body fat of his murder victims into soap and sold the bars to the public the gruesome allegation turned out to be true in September of the same year Manuel was arrested and brought to trial in Alaris for the murder of 13 people ranging in age from 10 to 47. his defense however was unlike anything ever heard in a court of law Manuel claimed to be a victim of lycanthropy an illness that made him transform into a werewolf and roam the streets looking for prey this is what he said the first time I transformed was in the mountains of kuso I came across two furious looking walls I suddenly fell to the floor and began to feel convulsions I rolled over three times and a few seconds later I myself was a wolf I was out Meandering with the other two for five days until I returned to my own body the one you see before you today the other two wolves came with me who I thought were also wolves changed into human form they were from Valencia one was called Antonio and the other Don Janero they too were cursed we attacked and ate a number of people because we were hungry ultimately Manuel was acquitted of four murders ironically because the victims had shown signs of dying in real wolf attacks he was found guilty of the other nine slayings and sentenced to death by garreting This was later commuted to life imprisonment on December 14 1863 Manuel died Behind Bars his cause of death was stomach cancer however there is a persistent rumor that suggests he was shot by a guard who wanted to witness him transform into a wolf old stinker Palmerston drain in Hull in 2016 residents of Hull a Yorkshire City in the UK reported seeing an eight-foot tall hairy humanoid creature prowling a direct industrial area just outside the city center eyewitnesses described it as half man half dog that stood upright one moment and the next was down on all fours running like a dog one resident described how it vaulted over a 30-foot fence and vanished up an embankment another set that they seen something tall and hairy jump over an eight-foot fence carrying a German Shepherd dog in its jaws the sightings have been linked to the local Legend of a werewolf called Old stinker described as a great Hairy Beast with red eyes who got its name due to its foul smiling breath the legend of old stinker has been around for decades and in recent years he is thought to reside near Palmerston drain a man-made waterway that runs through hull it's a popular spot for fishing and bird watching but it's also known for its Eerie atmosphere it is said that old stinker a werewolf-like creature roams around the area at night some people claim to have seen it While others have heard its howls in a distance the legend likely derived from a time when wolves roamed freely in the UK and were known to dig up corpses from graveyards from that sprung the idea that they were supernatural beings who took the form of werewolves The Werewolf of bedberg in October 1589 a Bayon crowd gathered in the German city of bedberg they were there to witness the execution of Peter's stump a 50 year old farmer who confessed to making a pact with the devil to gain the ability to turn into a werewolf stump had committed multiple murders and cannibalism he killed 13 children including his own son and three adults and allegedly after killing his son he ate his brain stump claimed he transformed into a wolf by wearing a wolfskin belt given to him by the devil by removing the belt he could return back to his human form after the murders and livestock deaths villagers formed patrols to hunt down the perpetrator and stump was spotted in his wolf form and chased it's claimed when they caught up with him he removed his magic belt and reverted Back To Human in full view of his pursuers however once the mob confirmed who he really was he was arrested stump confessed to the crimes although he was likely under great duress to do so he was later condemned to death his execution was brutal he was strapped to a wheel and skinned alive his bones were broken he was decapitated and then his body was burned at the stake as a warning to everyone his head was later impaled I posed in the center of the village terrifying werewolf caught on camera this next clip is fairly recent it was uploaded to tiktok by user Bigfoot Anonymous and seemed to show a mysterious figure running across a black garden we don't know a whole lot about it but the large entity appears to have shaggy hair and runs on all fours take a look [Music] commenters have said it looks like some sort of canine and many believe it's either a werewolf or Bigfoot it is not known where the video was captured and we'll leave it up to you to decide what you think it is werewolf remains finishing up this list we'll take a among them was what looked like a human skeleton with a wolf's head the man took the remains back to his Cottage and placed them on his kitchen table to examine them but was baffled and eventually concluded that it must be some put together monstrosity possibly used at a fair to excite the interest of the crowd that night however he found himself very restless and unable to sleep and thought he heard a noise out in the back Garden he got up tentatively and went to investigate when suddenly he heard a loud tap on the window as he looked through the pain he could see a dark figure looking at him in the form of a human with a wolf's head as the young man stood Frozen with horror the creature snarled and raised its arms and smashed the glass the man quickly fled to the kitchen locking the door and barricading himself in with furniture he stayed there all night as the Morning Light started to stream through the man decided to venture out of his makeshift barricade and open the door he could see no sign of the creature however the table where he had placed the remains he found the previous day was overturned and the window shards covered the floor he quickly gathered up the remains and took them back to where he found them and reburied them the man was never bothered Again by The Wolf Man and never dared to revisit his grave so about 10 insane werewolf sightings Legends and The truth behind Rising Autism rates
We’ve all heard the story that autism is on the rise. It seems everyone has an opinion on why. Some blame vaccines, some blame parents, so what’s really behind the rise in Autism? Hey guys Julia here for DNews Autism is a widely misunderstood condition. It’s a neurodevelopmental condition which frequently causes a spectrum of behaviors like problems with social communication and repetitive and restricted patterns of behavior, like lining up toys in a row. But it’s a spectrum, individuals with the disorder have a wide range of abilities and levels of functioning. But as individual as the condition is, there does some to be a common theme. It’s much more common now than it was in years past. For the past few decades, the rate of those diagnosed with autism has been steadily on the rise. In the 1970s and 1980s, about one out of every 2,000 children had autism, now a new U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention survey published in November 2015 of parents found that one out of 45 kids have the condition. So what’s behind the rise? Part of the rise can be explained by simple greater awareness. After a 2014 CDC study, director of the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities, Coleen Boyle noted that the rise could be explained by a “greater awareness in the community around autism” and a better training of education and medical professionals. With this most recent survey, the CDC suggests that the rise in rates is mostly due to a change in the questions parents were asked. The CDC surveyed more than 11,000 families and asked them “ if a health professional ever told them that their child had autism, Asperger's disorder, pervasive developmental disorder or autism spectrum disorder.” This wording was a noticeable change from previous surveys because it specifically asked about Asperger’s. You see, Asperger’s is no longer in diagnostic manuals, it hasn’t been since 2013. It’s now folded under the umbrella of “Autism Spectrum Disorder”. And this changing of diagnoses and categorizing of learning disabilities is what other research indicates is responsible for most of the rise in cases of Autism. Another study published in the American Journal of Medical Genetics Part B: Neuropsychiatric Genetics found that the rise is “partly the result of students being moved from one category to another. And not just from Asperger’s to Autism, but a shift from a diagnoses of “intellectual disability” to a diagnoses of autism. The study found that in just a ten year period from 2000 and 2010, diagnoses of autism rose from 93,000 in 2000 to 419,000. But at the same time diagnoses of intellectual disability fell from 637,000 to 457,000. So basically the findings of studies like this show that the number of kids diagnosed with “brain development” problems hasn’t changed all that much. It’s really a shift in diagnoses. And shifting a diagnoses, is pretty smart from a parent’s perspective. For starters, “autism” is becoming more socially acceptable than intellectual disability or as it used to be called, mental retardation. But more importantly, communities and schools have so many more resources now that we know more about autism and how powerful early intervention is. Several studies like one published in the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry found that autism-specific, one-on-one intervention in toddlers with the condition improves their intellectual ability and reduces their symptoms. And that kind of treatment can come with a hefty price tag but thankfully most medical insurance companies are now required to cover mental and developmental conditions the same way as any other medical conditions. So we’re living in age where resources are widely available and covered by insurance. So it’s in the parent’s and the child’s best interest to get the correct diagnoses as early as possible. Which thanks to organizations like the Autism Society raising awareness, more kids are getting the help they need. So no, vaccines aren’t the reason you’ve heard so much about autism lately. It’s because of greater awareness which is a good thing! But if you’re curious about how that whole autism vaccine link got started, comment below and wait for my next post, got any other questions about modern medicine? Leave them down below and we might answer in a future episode!

Beyond science
what would actually happen if an asteroid was on a collision course with our planet if you don't know hundreds of pieces of space rock fall through our atmosphere every single year but luckily they burn up on entry were simply are large enough to have any noticeable impact however there's evidence to suggest that the earth has experienced several large strikes throughout his history so there's every possibility that it could happen again to prepare ourselves for the worst case scenario nASA has been running a series of tests to see how well-prepared we are and unfortunately for us were not everyday more than a hundred tons of dust and small particles fall to the earth and on average a car-sized object enters the atmosphere once a year and burns up creating an amazing fireball streaking through the sky larger objects about the size of a football field collide once every two thousand years in a potential extinction level collision is thought to happen every few million years which would make one long overdue generally anything less than 82 feet across will burn up and cause very minor damage anything measuring up to half a mile across will cause significant damage to the impact site anything larger than that and could have worldwide consequences currently the largest known potentially dangerous object in space is taught to test which is just over three miles across and there's an asteroid known as Apophis which is expected to pass incredibly close to Earth in 2029 that's a thousand two hundred and thirteen feet wide there are though much larger objects in space that we know of but luckily aren't currently on a collision course with earth in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter for example there are some that are as much as 583 miles long if one of these were to divert cores towards us we could be in some serious trouble so to prepare for such an event NASA is working with space agencies across the world to simulate an impact something they do every couple years basically they want to learn how much warning we'd get how people would realize and whether there's anything that could be done to protect people and to do fictional scenarios was created that began with the discovery of a near-earth object in March of 2019 with initial signs that it could make an impact with the earth in 2027 in the lead-up to the planetary defense conference which took place in early May of 2000 the 19 for their information was released about the asteroid this included details about his eccentric orbits uncertainty about his composition and refined predictions about his exact path which suggests the odds of a collision are about 1 in 100 with his orbital path the asteroid would remain observable for the rest of the year before fading from view and requiring larger telescopes to monitor delegates at the conference were then tasked with planning how resources can be dedicated to learn more about the asteroid the options ranged from training more telescopes on it Wow it's arranged to potential for launching a spacecraft to monitor and more closely and if the worst is confirmed options for how its path could be deflected others focused more on the societal impact of such a discovery with eight years of planning governments would be able to build safe zones perhaps underground where people could be protected from an impact of course the effectiveness of these would really depend on the exact point of impact and how severe the impact was something that reinforces the importance of finding out much more about the asteroid is trajectory and the materials that is made from finally there's the question about when the information about a near-earth object is released to the public with odds of a collision being calculated as 1 in 100 is still a remote possibility and it could be irresponsible to tell everyone if it were to cause massive panic law enforcement and emergency services would need to be prepared for the public reaction and the timing at which information like this is released would be crucial so basically a while it may seem like the space agencies are indulging in games of science fiction projects like these are incredibly important they're always a chance that a large object could strike our planet and we really don't know how much warning will actually get scenarios like this help emergency planners such as those at FEMA understand what information would be available to them and what their options may be while we're not at the level of concerns seen and movies like Armageddon and deep impact.

Facts about hidden mystery
We all have to respect the ocean; not just because it is the foundation of many forms of life, but because this massive body of water can also be quite ruthless when it comes to claiming lives. Many of us know better than to underestimate how many human lives could be lost in an ocean-related tragedy, and needless to say, mankind has had too many of them. Thousands of years of maritime history can attest to the harsh realities that humans have had to face when navigating through Earth’s “final frontier.” While the vast expanse of the Ocean promises treasures just as much as it forbodes tragedies, there are certain parts of the planet’s hydrosphere that pose deadlier dangers to those who dare pass through their waters compared to other sea and ocean regions. And one of those deadliest stretches of water which is shrouded in curious mystery can be found in the gigantic Pacific Ocean. This enigmatic region is called “The Dragon’s Triangle,” which also happens to be what I will be talking about in detail in this video. (Background on the “Dragon’s Triangle”) This region of the Pacific goes by many names. Aside from “The Dragon’s Triangle,” it is also referred to as the “Devil’s Sea,” “Formosa or Taiwan Triangle,” and the “Pacific Bermuda Triangle.” The name “Dragon’s Triangle” can be traced back to old Chinese fables which originated from around 1000 BCE. These tales spoke of dragons that lived underwater and, from time to time, capsized and sank seafaring vessels along with the seamen aboard them for these mythical creatures’ consumption and to satisfy their hunger. On the other hand, the oceanic area’s name the “Devil’s Sea” or “Ma-No Umi” in Japanese was actually coined by the natives of Japan a long time ago because of the local legends that speak of the area’s notoriety in subduing and consuming even the strongest and the most buoyant of ships, and for being the home of terrifying sea monsters that drowned people to death. The “Dragon’s Triangle” is located in the region of the Pacific Ocean in close proximity to the Japanese volcanic island of Miyake, which is just around 100 kilometers south of Japan’s capital, Tokyo. It is a triangle-shaped danger zone found between the coast of Japan and the Islands of Bonin, and it covers a large part of the Philippine Sea. Although this region is well-known by Japanese fishermen, the Devil’s Sea is still not officially labeled on nautical maps, and reports on its size and the area it occupies have provided conflicting estimations that has yet to be reconciled conclusively. From the names referring to this part of the Pacific, we can already tell that there is something dangerous about this oceanic area. The reason why people regard the Dragon’s Triangle as a deadly enigma is because of reports of its unpredictable and sometimes violent weather. There are also claims of random and unexplained occurrences of ocean phenomena such as maelstroms, ocean swells and rogue waves. Another interesting reason is the alleged disappearances of several maritime vessels and aircrafts, along with many other strange events in the region. Because of the perils it poses to the vessels and the seafaring individuals that pass through it, the Dragon’s Triangle has gained significant notoriety that Japanese authorities went so far as to brand it as hazardous for marine travel and expeditions. What is also fascinating about the Dragon’s Triangle that makes it worthy of discussion is that it is one of the 12 Vile Vortices that exist today. Paranormal expert Ivan Sanderson coined the term “vile vortex” in his 1972 article titled “The 12 Devil’s Graveyards Around the World.” A vile vortex is an area found in different parts of the world, where the pull of Earth’s electromagnetic waves is thought to be at its strongest. Five of these vortices are situated on the same latitude below the equator, while five of them are on the same latitude above the equator. The remaining two vortices are the north and south poles of the planet. These 12 areas are said to be prime sites of magnetic anomalies, unexplained disappearances as well as other bizarre phenomena. The Dragon’s Triangle, in particular, is located above the equator and is aligned opposite to where its Atlantic counterpart – the Bermuda Triangle – is situated. And just like the Devil’s Sea, this region in the western portion of the North Atlantic Ocean is also notorious for being the subject of similar cases of mysterious disappearances and paranormal phenomena. There are many legends, stories and cases of mysterious disappearances of boats, ships and aircrafts as well as other strange incidents in the Dragon’s Triangle that we know of today. One popular tale supposedly took place back in the 1200s. According to this story, emperor Kublai Khan of the Yuan Dynasty attempted to conquer Japan twice by crossing the Devil’s Sea. Both efforts to take over the country did not succeed, and they resulted to the loss of the Yuan emperor’s sea-faring vessels, as well as the demise of more than 40,000 crewmen of these ships in the initial attempt alone. There is a famous Japanese legend dating back to 1803 that talks about another eerie incident in the Dragon’s Triangle. This Japanese Utsuro-bune legend involves a hollow boat that’s shaped like a box and resembles an incense burner or “kou-hako.” Inside this boat was a foreign-looking female who bore unique physical features. Fishermen who found her brought the woman inland to investigate her, but she did not know how to communicate in Japanese. This has led for some people to speculate that this particular story is an actual case of a close encounter with an extraterrestrial or interdimensional being. Modern linguist and author Charles Berlitz, in his 1989 book “The Dragon’s Triangle,” made a sweeping declaration that there were a lot of fishing boats, tankers, Japanese and American warships and aircrafts, and Soviet submarines that had fallen prey to the harsh waters and weather conditions of the Devil’s Sea. In fact, there are even much-wilder speculations that link the Dragon’s Triangle to the world-famous disappearance of the renowned female pilot Amelia Earhart. Another popular case of a ship’s disappearance in the Devil’s Sea is that of the Kaio Maru No. 5 back in 1952. The Kaio Maru No. 5 was a research vessel of the Japanese government that investigated the undersea activities of the region. The ship supposedly disappeared in the Dragon’s Triangle along with its crew of 31 people who were never seen or heard from again. As is usually the case with most mysterious phenomena, many theories have been put forward which took a crack at explaining the strange stories and incidents that have taken place within the danger zones of the Devil’s Sea. Some of the explanations are more scientific and rational, but there are also those which fit the realm of the supernatural, paranormal, and speculative science. There are those who believe that the Dragon’s Triangle could be housing a secret or hidden doorway or a black hole that leads to another dimension or a parallel universe. Some also connect the oceanic region with the lost city of Atlantis, while others have raised the possibility that extraterrestrials have something to do with the sudden and unexplained disappearance of many vessels and sea-faring individuals that passed by the area. Of course, rational and natural explanations have also been presented to put the questions surrounding the controversial and strange mystery behind the Dragon’s Triangle to rest. For one, deep-sea fishing has always been a dangerous line of work, which is why it should not come as a surprise that many fishing boats have sunk in the region of the Devil’s Sea and other surrounding seas and oceans near Japan. Some even say that the number of incidents of fishing boats that sank in the Dragon’s Triangle is no higher than the average, and so, there could be no big mystery after all. Another explanation to the disappearance of the boats and ships in the area could be the vast field of methane hydrates that lies at the bottom of the ocean within the zone of the Devil’s Sea. According to this theory, methane hydrates – or ice-like deposits that detach from the bottom of the ocean floor – turn into the gaseous form of methane clathrates which, in turn, produce bubbles on the water’s surface. When methane clathrates surpass the temperature of 18 °C (64 °F), they result to gas eruptions that mess with buoyancy and consequently leave ships vulnerable to sinking easily. Some of the other natural explanations related to the disappearance of various vessels and people in the Dragon’s Triangle have something to do with undersea volcanic activities, the movement of tectonic plates, as well as agonic lines and magnetic anomalies. The scientific and natural explanations I have just mentioned should have been sufficient enough for everyone to tear off the shroud of mystery and inexplicability surrounding the Dragon’s Triangle. Yet even then, many still prefer to believe in more unconventional theories of the paranormal. But regardless of whether or not you choose to believe the scientific or the supernatural explanation, it cannot be denied that the Dragon’s Triangle or the Devil’s Sea is among the world’s most compelling mysteries about the oceans and high seas, and that much of it remains to be thoroughly understood. And so, for those who might find themselves cruising somewhere in the Pacific Ocean, perhaps it would be in your best interest for the time being that you steer clear of this region.
