The Evolution of Healing
I’ve survived two bouts with melanoma. I’ve also gone 15 rounds, twice, with pulmonary embolisms unrelated to my cancers. Yet, here I am, happier, more compassionate, and as active as I ever was. A friend who was exceptionally lucky with their heart attack reached out.

Loan Forgiveness; why you so mad?
I was going to stay out of this “Student Loan Debt Cancellation” kerfuffle because it is so ludicrous. When you go to the casino, do you root for the house to win? When people need a medical test or procedure, do you root for the insurance company to turn them down? When you got food poisoning at Bob and Ethel’s picnic, did you call around to see if other people were sick, too, and when you found they weren’t, did you got ticked off at them?

Jacky King; a Master in the Dojo & in Life
Prelude - For several years, I was fortunate to write profiles for Stand Magazine; the magazine for men that give a damn about being better men. My editor, the mag's founder, Dwayne Hayes, had a brilliant vision. Unfortunately, it didn't pan out. Dwayne gave me the freedom to seek out engaging men and publish lengthy sit-downs with them. As the magazine and its website have shuttered, I have the (legal) opportunity to share these profiles here. Over the course of this spring and summer, I'll share these profiles here.

It was Sunday morning. Cath and I were at Barnes & Noble. I browsed the mags, found a couple, bought a latte. Cath found her book, found a couple of mags, and we sat down in the café. A fellow, 40-ish, was seated near us looking at his computer. He picked up his phone.

I Meditate with my Dog
Our dog Josie does not like thunderstorms. That’s true for a lot of pups, I know, and there are myriad ways we all try to help our dogs weather the storm (hehehe). There are the Thundershirts®, a snug fitting stretch shell jacket that gives the dog a cozy, secure feeling. We’ve put Josie in her crate (after my lap, her second favorite hang-out) and covered it with a blanket to make it safe and den-like. That works, a little. Sometimes.
