Eyeing Green
"Do you see a blurry green light?" the doctor asked. "Yes," I said. Flat on my back under the LASIK apparatus, the green light was all I could see, with only my left eye for now. The nurse tightened her grip on my hand and rubbed my stomach with her other hand. It would have been weird in a different situation, but, wedged under the machines, I was grateful to feel her there.
