The Importance of Critical Race Theory
Critical race theory has become a highly debated topic in the last few years. It has been especially prevalent in K-12, where many state legislatures are debating bills to ban its use in the classroom. However, critical race theory is not as bad as many of these states are making it out to be.

Are standardized tests helpful to students?
The intent of standardized testing is to have large numbers of students take one test and then compare any score against all others to see how an individual's score compares to the large sample. Standardized means the test is the same in three ways: format/questions, instructions, and time allotment. Creating a standardized test and interpreting the results requires a lot of different expertise in curriculum, child development, cultural and linguistic differences, statistics, and psychometrics.

Substitute teachers deserve better!
Many teachers are leaving the classroom due to overwhelming stress from several factors including new legislation, low pay, and Covid 19. This has created a teacher shortage and left substitute teachers to fill their positions. However, the rise in shortages has created a deficiency of educators too large for substitutes to handle. This has created a negative environment, where substitutes are being overworked and underpaid and students are not learning as much, and thus many are struggling in their classes.

Why teachers are leaving their classrooms.
Teachers help create the future leaders of the world. However, many obstacles are making prospective teachers turn away, and many current teachers are quitting or retiring early. Teachers are being pushed well beyond their limits between the low wages, new curriculums, standardized testing, and an immense workload. Seeing all of this deters people from wanting to enter the field of education. Since the pandemic, things have worsened for educators as they are now tasked with additional duties. These factors are causing burnout and leaving the number of teachers at an all-time low.
