Summer Activities for Your Kids
When my children were young, I found summers to be a good time for them to explore, learn, and engage in fun and safe activities. Children will become bored if their summer days are not filled with a variety of activities. There are creative ways to help your children have a wonderful summer. With careful planning, you can create activities that will become memories for them that they will love and cherish. The key, however, is advanced planning. You will need to start planning for the summer several weeks before summer arrives. As you make plans for summer activities, consider local craft stores, your local library, art centers and museums, and of course your local recreational center to see what if they are offering summer activities. You can also explore your local YMCA and community summer league programs.

Skillet Chicken Burrito
Unlike the traditional families of the past, today's family must work longer workdays in order to meet the financial needs of the household. Women are very much a part of the workforce, opting to work and raise the children. Other responsibilities, such as little league and dance practice or piano lessons, make it difficult to come up with healthy, wholesome, and filling meals for the family. Today's parent depends on the Internet and other resources for quick, tasty meals for their family. These meals decrease the amount of time spent in the kitchen and provide the family with the opportunity to spend quality time with each other.

Urinary Tract Infections
Urinary tract infections are generally caused by bacteria. However, fungi and viruses may cause urinary tract infections, as well. The bacteria that cause the infections are so small that they are only seen with a microscope. Urine samples are required to confirm suspected UTIs after symptoms indicate a diagnosis. Most infections occur in the lower tract of the urinary system and are not as severe as those in the upper tract. If you have been diagnosed with a UTI, your physician will develop a treatment plan discuss preventative methods, as well.

What Children in Foster Care Want
On average, there are approximately 420,000 children in foster care each day. Some are in temporary placements, while others are long-term. Children in care are as young as newborns and as old as 21 years of age. As a former adoption worker, in preparing children for adoption, I spoke with them about their family, desires, dreams, and expectations.

Separation Anxiety in Young Children
In recent months, many citizens of the United States have voiced concern for the implementation of the immigration policy and the effects that the policy has on the children involved. Since April, it is estimated 2,300 children of illegal immigrants have been displaced and placed in custody. These children are fearful and have been traumatized by the experience. They have been uprooted from the safety and security that they have known. The immigration policy or no tolerance policy can possibly have a long-term effect on these young children.

The Adoption Process
Love is simply not enough when it comes to adopting a child. No matter how much you love children, love is just one of the many components involved in the adoption process. As a former caseworker, I have listened to adoptive parents describe the amount of love they will give their adoptive child. It is during the interview process that I help prospective adoptive parents realize that love will not be enough for an adopted child, no matter how heartfelt and sincere they are.
