Reality Bites for the Empire Records of Singles
The ‘90s were the epitome of nostalgia for me. I was in college, and I was starting my adult life while still having tons of fun. My friends and I would hang out, and we’d go to shows and concerts constantly. The music was incredible with the birth of grunge as well as some amazing hard rock bands. We were introduced to bands like Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, Mudhoney, Screaming Trees, Stone Temple Pilots, Rage Against the Machine, and Mother Love Bone. Music festivals were everywhere, from Lollapalooza to the Warped Festival and the H.O.R.D.E. tour to OzzFest. Being out and about was what we were all about.

I am a stand-up comedian. I have been doing comedy regularly since the mid-2000s. In 2011, I had a paying feature gig at a comedy club called Sidesplitters in Knoxville, Tennessee. I had featured there a few times, and this time, I was featuring for comedian Jose Sarduy who was a super nice guy and very funny.

Liberation of a Dog
It was November 2012. I received a Facebook message from my friend, Randy, asking me to call him as soon as possible. I could almost hear the desperation in his written words, so I knew I had to call him immediately. He had an upstairs neighbor that had gotten a pit bull puppy that he left on the balcony without food and water. He was horrified by the wails of the puppy as it cried in between beatings from the horrible human who owned it…or should I say, kept it prisoner. He knew that something had to be done. He had contacted animal control to no avail. He never got a response from them. He knew that I worked with rescues, so he hoped I could help.
