Why Kindness Is So Important As A PhD Student
Studying for and completing a PhD is no easy feat. As I write this, I’m currently 3 years and 3 months into my PhD, and the finish line is on the horizon. It’s in touching distance. Those who went before me were not lying with their advice that studying for a PhD “is like a rollercoaster”. I’ve experienced incredible highs that have fuelled me forward, but also lows which I felt I may never emerge from. 3 years on, I can look back with a renewed sense of accomplishment and reflect on some of the things I’ve learnt.

You’d be forgiven for thinking that self-love is not much other than a social media trend which encourages bubble baths, scented candles, a good night’s sleep, and taking your vitamins. Is Self-Love Selfish?
Some people believe that showing yourself self-love is selfish. Gardening Can Make You Happier And Improve Mental Wellbeing
If you are not an avid gardener, or perhaps you are dipping your toes into the world of gardening for the first time, you may not be aware of the psychological benefits gardening can offer. When you think of gardening, you don’t need to think of a pristine, landscaped, humongous garden. Instead, think of sowing a seed and watching it grow and blossom into a beautiful fruit or flower. Think about planting wildflower seeds to create a haven for wildlife. Imagine cooking with the fruits of your labour that ou have grown in your very own garden. Sounds good, doesn’t it? For me, gardening feels wholesome and slow-paced. It makes me appreciate what I have in my life right now.
