Egyptian goddess, Isis, had a deep devotion to her husband Osiris and her son Horus, eventually realizing that devotion can become an unhealthy obsession. Similar to Isis, my mother would learn that too much of a good thing can destroy a person and the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Content Amongst the Changes
Sitting at Blue Ridge Mountain beach I look upon the ocean. It is far in the distance. I can really only sense that it is there. Like I know deep down it is out there, visible only on a very clear day. Yet, when I look out, I swear I can see it. As clearly as the clouds that float above, I know the waves float out yonder.

Old Route in a New Era
Dear Aunt Hazel, Thank you for checking in! It really has been too long since we’ve talked. I do love how I can always expect a letter from you on my birthday. Snail Mail is such a forgotten form of communication. The older I get the more special it is to open up and see a beautiful, handwritten envelope, rather than a bill!
