Last week, I tried something that has been recently trending on all social media platforms; yet another diet appraised for helping all clear their digestive systems and lose some stubborn fat...the classic. On a normal day, I would never have given this diet a second glance however, it's quarantine and to avoid snacking and binge eating, I decided to give this egg thing a go. The results...surprisingly shocking and disappointingly good.
It's safe to say that it's been hard staying busy and keeping ourselves motivated during this quarantine. Lying around all day, snacking, binge watching shows on Netflix; these are the things that most of us have probably been spending out time doing. Though they keep us entertained temporarily, this enjoyment only lasts so long before boredom and craziness kick in. At the same time, after cleaning your entire house, reorganizing your entire closet and eating everything out of your fridge, what's there left to do? Plenty of videos have been posted on YouTube about this topic but not many blog posts have been written about this topic exactly. How can you remain productive whilst just relaxing and having a good time this quarantine season? Here are a few things that you can do.
This quarantine was something beyond anyone’s imagination. Everything seemed to be going so right since the start of this year; we were all making plans for the summer, accomplishing our new year’s resolutions, being productive at school and at work. Then, out of nowhere, all of these are ripped out from our grasps. We can no longer leave our houses, we can't see any of our friends. It becomes a challenge to simply get some work done or exercise after a long days’ worth of doing nothing. Those sticky notes with all our play dates, family getaways and road trips are being peeled one by one off of our calendars. To make matters worse, boredom, procrastination, laziness - the things that we try to avoid in our lives each and every single waking moment - are becoming harder and harder to avoid. What is there left to do other then watch Netflix and munch away at everything in the pantry? What's the point of doing our work if we can just stay in bed instead scrolling through Instagram, laughing at TikToks or making fake tinder accounts to catfish some poor souls? Never in our right minds had we thought that our lives would come to this.
In 2017, our lives changed forever. We both signed up for something that we really weren't sure of; a student exchange. We were still young, 13 years old for that matter, when we signed up to go and live with another family in another country in another continent for 2 months. It's crazy because at that age, nobody is thinking about that kind of stuff. Leaving your parents for that long of a time, travelling alone on a plane, going to school in a country where a completely different language is spoken and living with practical strangers for a month.... sounds like the ultimate recipe for disaster! It's something so many people have the opportunity to do but one that only a few actually take. The experience itself is intimidating, amazing, scary, fulfilling, frustrating, satisfying all at the same time. There are no words to describe it but there's also no guarantee that the whole experience will be a good one. That slim possibility is what scares everyone off.
