The Slap Heard By Everyone
There are a lot of us out there that have a sense of pride when we say things like "I don't even know who that is" or "I had no idea the Oscars were even happening." For others, statements like that may elicit an eyerolling cringey response of superiority and judgement towards people who feel like this, but even those of us who pretend like we don't give an iota of thought or concern to mainstream pop culture, we have a difficult time controlling that knee-jerk reaction when these celebrity controversies pop up. One thing about being a person who is unconcerned with the personal lives and behavior of celebrities is that we can usually cast a fairly objective eye on a situation whereas people who have certain stronger feelings about any parties, policies, people or places involved will naturally bring in a certain bias & inflame the conversation beyond the actual circumstances.

Sarah
It's true, we haven't had a great relationship. I left her behind when I turned 18 and changed my name to Celeste. I've blamed her for so many of my shortcomings, but I really wasn't expecting her to fully confront me in the middle of a guided group meditation experience last year.

Meditation Sensation
For years now I thought of myself as half-assed spiritual person. I care about people. I believe, follow, read and watch all the "woo woo" I can get into. I have a wide array of crystals and an extensive pile of prayer beads & malas. It's not just for show because nobody sees these things really. They are mostly confined to the sanctuary that is my home. These are really intended to be reminders to ME to stay focused on spiritual balance and not to get all caught up in the problems and pleasures of the physical realm because I truly do believe we are spiritual beings, eminations of God, living a human existence and as all of us humans know, it ain't easy!

Deep Lake
Nestled deep in the foothills of the Cascades, back on what once was Muckleshoot Indian territory, there lies a modest lake that had been made one of the State Parks. This place was our childhood gem hidden amongst the trees tucked between the valleys and the hills, surrounded by the lichen laden Ponderosa Pines & rich green vegetation from the ever-persistent regional rainfall. There was a little dirt & mud running path through the woods along the edges of the water. You wouldn’t know where to find this place unless you were specifically looking for it, especially back then before GPS, but locals knew it well and it was where we spent our summer days catching mud guppies, skipping rocks, hoarding fresh huckleberries off the bushes and flopping around like fish in the freshly melted glacial waters.

A Parrot in A Poncho
One time my wife and I were at a party with some friends just before Halloween and I noticed they had all these bottles of Coronas on each of the tables with small ponchos on them for decoration. I had a hunch that one of these might be the perfect size for my Eclectus Male Parrot name Oiseau so I snagged one just for him to try on and it was a perfect fit!

Ultimate Halloween Playlist
I started compiling my first Halloween Playlist over 8 years ago on Spotify when I became a public performer and wanted to have both Halloween songs I perform & Halloween filler music between sets. Halloween has always been one of my favorite seasons (yes, it's a season, not just a day!) and it takes an awesome playlist to really set the creepy vibes you want at any Halloween Party, but everyone has such varied interest in musical genres. Fortunately, when it comes to spooky songs, there's plenty across every genre!

I'm Here
It's been so long since I've seen colors; the blue sky, birds, trees, smelled a flower or felt human touch, but I remember you as though it was yesterday. Your smile and the way your eyes crinkled, your one dimple that would appear as your eyes all but closed when you'd walk toward me grinning from ear to ear. Your beautiful brown skin, so soft it felt like heaven, so warm, so smooth, tattoos adorning both your arms, never quite completed, but still a part of you. Your voice, nurturing, low and soft always comforted me.

Singing Saved My Soul
When did you start singing? That's probably the question I hear the most and the answer is I've been singing my entire life, which isn't really that uncommon, because I think it is human nature to sing & dance & express ourselves, but singing saved my life in more ways than I can explain plainly.

CHAMELEON GIRL
Let's face it, being young isn't an easy experience for anyone! However, there's definitely certain experiences, lifestyles & choices our parents can make for us that can make it even more difficult, but as they say, we are forged in the fire and adversity can give us more depth of character.
