Yesterday Bay
"This was a mistake." The words struggled to escape, stumbling over the lump in my throat. Choking on the story I wrote. I turned away from his loveless embrace and quickly walked out of his place. Questions spinning around in my head. How could I let myself be so misled?

How a Car Wreck Left me Homeless
“Were you the one who called 911?” The officer asked as he approached, mask on, pen and notepad in hand. “Yeah, I’m the one who called,” I responded, still slightly in shock that I almost didn’t notice the tears streaming down my face. I had never been in a car accident before, never with me behind the wheel anyway. I’ve seen many as an EMT and I always responded just the way an EMT should; calm, controlled, focused, concerned for the patient’s health and safety but emotionally detached.

Optimizing my Life, one Vocal Challenge at a Time.
Start writing... the monitor prompts, more like taunts me. Just start writing, Cat. Don't think too hard about the next sentence, or the one after that. Don't dwell too long on the sentence you're writing now or the past ones that have already been written. And for the love of God, please don't edit as you go! No matter how tempted, and you will be tempted, you've just got to let the words flow. There will be plenty of time for editing later, but right you've just got to put pen to paper. And write, girl, write!

I AM BROOKFIRE
"Did you hear that?" I looked down at River for his response. He looked up at me with an earnest awareness in his eyes as if to give me his answer, while his ears stayed focused on the mysterious noise ahead. Everyone always said that my dog and I had a special bond. I could always tell what River was thinking just by looking at him. We were more than just best friends. We were like brothers. I was his shadow and he was my light. We never left each other's side.

Love is Not a Rainbow
Love is not the rainbow, it is the storm. Love is the unknown chaos that brings us to the treasure on the other side. Love is a series of hurdles we must jump over on our way toward the finish line. Love is not the finish line. Love is not the prize to be won because you cannot win love any more than you can win your way into heaven. Love is also not heaven. Love is life, lived. When your life is explored, experienced, felt, tasted, and known to its fullest extent it becomes your personal heaven. That is love, the process of turning life into heaven.

April 18th
"Wait, Cat. Just wait one more minute." I thought to myself as I sat at the foot of the bed trying desperately to control my shaking for fear that I might wake him up and ruin my escape plan. I had already got my bag ready the last time he passed out and set it right next to the door with my sandals. I was even able to get my pants on the last time, but that's when he woke up again.
