The Legend of the Selkie
The Legend of the Selkie originated in Ireland and Scotland with dozens of varieties and hundreds of stories. In short, the legend of the Selkie is Ireland’s concept of a mermaid. The Selkie also called the Seal People, the Sea People or the Mermaid is a marine legend that tells of people who are half fish and half-human. In the water, they are seals, but on land, they shed their skin and take on human form. And for some reason, they are irresistible to ordinary humans who are apt to fall in love with the Seal People. Whosoever finds the skin of a Selkie becomes the master of her forever unless the skin is returned to her.

Looking Back
There was a time when the world we live in was filled with magic and mystery and every human being participated in it on a daily basis. This was a time people of the Earth on all continents and in every country had a deep connection to nature and the land they lived on.

Enjoy the Holiday Season and Throw Stress Out the Window!
This year I told myself I wasn’t going to get caught up in all the holiday hype. As I’ve grown older, hopefully, wiser, I’ve learned a last-minute mad rush to buy the perfect gift, or risk being told off by someone in the parking lot because I mistakenly took their place, or their toy, isn’t what Christmas is about and in the midst of Covid, I might add.

Ricky The Cool Cowboy
My son Ricky grew up around horses. He’s worked with us at the ranch since he was fourteen years old. He’s an excellent rider and accompanied us for years on every trail ride and pack trip. Whenever someone needed assistance on the trail, Ricky maneuvered his horse with such skill he was at their side within seconds. It didn’t matter where we were; on the side of a mountain or in a river, nothing stood in his way when someone needed a hand.

Touchdown!
Dear Readers, Recently I’ve read some intriguing articles here on Vocal about Vocal. Does that make sense? They were full of information on how to get more reads, how to find your niche, and how to engage with readers/writers and get noticed? The get noticed part is an aspect of writing for Vocal. Of course, we want more reads, hearts, or even a tip but it’s my belief there is more to it than that.
