Scissors for Life
When we hear the phrase 'Life saving' we immediately think 'Doctor' or 'Paramedic' and we often forget about the little guys. I am a lifeguard by trade, and by hobby a Lifeguard instructor. An under estimated profession, as we are often looked at as lazy baby sitters and act as janitors for the pool. The unknown skill hidden behind these two facades are indeed exactly what you want to have sitting in that chair, watching you swim in that pool, where nothing ever happens. This if often when, something does happen.

All Thanks to you Mom
Dear Mom, They say there is nothing quite like a Mothers love, I'm writing to tell you there is nothing quite like the way I love you Mom. You saw me through all these life stages, and all you ever offered was your most pure love. Meanwhile, I offered all sorts of emotions; love, disdain, annoyance, anger, sadness and all the other feels. How could a Mother love me through all the wretched, all the great, all the sad and make love look easy? Must be the superhero inside of you Mom. I'm sorry Mom for ever hurting you, I now would do anything to treat you, spoil you, or care for you and you want to know what's wild about that Mom? Even though I offer all the glory to you, I know you would offer me more, and take even less.

Following the flow
Sitting and meditating is great, it has it’s place for sure. To me, nothing quite compares to following the rhythm of my body and dancing myself open. It’s even showcased in the hit tv drama Grey’s Anatomy. Meridith and Christina encouraging the ‘dancing it out’ method to figure out what to do next. I may not have as many dramatic events to navigate through as they did, but navigating through the ordinary is a trick all on it’s own.

Grandmothers Gift
The year 2020 … boy, what a time that was. The year of a pandemic that caused a global shut down. COVID-19 was a newly discovered airborne virus. Everything was shut down to ‘flatten the curve’ as they said. All concerts and major sports had been cancelled. Restaurants and local shops closed their doors. Borders shut down keeping all flights grounded. Everything ceased in what felt like a moments notice. This virus was spreading like wild fire, killing those infected at an alarming rate. Many had already lost their jobs. Some were forced to leave their job and stay home to take care of their families. Those who had a job, were accommodated to work at home as much as possible. High school seniors had to finish their grad year online and forfeit a graduation ceremony. University courses moved to online only. Even kindergarten moved to online check-ins once a week. COVID-19 saturated the media. The world’s top doctors came out with new information daily about the dangers and unknowns of this new virus. They claimed the symptoms matched that of the common cold or flu. If you had any symptoms you were to self quarantine in your home for 14 days. It was a dark and grim place.
