I'll Never Forget
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. The sky darkened and the thunder roared throughout the sky. lightning strikes viciously as if it wanted to destroy the ground the cabin resided on. a rotten smell lingered within the woods, and the sound of a busted rocking chair moving on the porch of the cabin. if you dared to look you’ll see the shadows of a little boy in the chair and a hooded man behind him holding an axe. The boy looked back caught off guard with fear in his eyes he let out a bloodcurdling scream. That echoed throughout the woods. WHOOSH! The candle blew out from a strange gust of wind. The two shadows vanished with just a pool of blood dripping from the rocking chair and the slight smoke coming from the candle to be seen. Nobody dares to step foot in the cabin because rumor states if you enter the cabin you’ll end up just like the little boy and stuck there for eternity. “There’s no way that story is true!” Shouted Qwen. “Who knows, nobody has ever gone inside. Anyways, let’s play a game of truth or dare” replied Ashley. Ashley was the prettiest, most popular girl in town with her two best friends Amber and Abby. If you ask anyone in town they’ll say, “they’re the nicest girls you’ll ever meet” but they were wrong. Little Gwen was the biggest outcast in the whole town. No friends, no social life and always walking around talking to herself. Little did Gwen know the night was just beginning and they were all in for a long night. Amber squealed, “ YES! OMG! Abby, you start!” “Okay, Ashley! Truth or dare?” “I’ll choose a dare,” Ashley replied with a grin on her face. “Okay, I dare you to go up to the cabin and knock on the door!” “Easy! I’ll be back in a second.” Ashley stood up and started walking towards the cabin, when all of a sudden Qwen announces, “ Don’t worry Ashley! There are no such things as ghosts and haunted cabins. It’s just some stupid made-up story.” Ashley rolled her eyes and told her with all attitude “whatever loser.” As she started getting closer to the cabin a rotten smell and fog filled the woods. It was so dense they couldn’t see anything. Ashley was nowhere in sight, and then a scream came from the direction of the cabin and the girls got scared. Ashley was struck from behind and collapsed to the ground. Blood was dripping down the side of her face. Not knowing what to do they got up and walked towards what they believed was the direction of the cabin. Abby and Amber were holding on to each other as if they were never going to see each other again and they were right. Qwen stood still in the woods, then all of a sudden she just vanished into thin air without a trace. Abby started crying and screaming for help but nobody could hear her. 10 miles deep in the woods, less than 4 miles to a cliff, one wrong step and you’ll plummet to your death. The girls kept on walking until Amber screamed and grabbed onto a branch barely hanging on to the tree. Hanging over 4000 feet in the air, she struggled to stay still and get a good grip on the branch. “Amber!!! HOLD ON!” Shrieked Abby as she was trying to turn another flashlight on. Abby finally got the flashlight to turn on and rushed to Amber's attention. “I can’t hold on much longer Abby! Please help me! I’m not ready to die!” Cried, Amber. Seeing her dangle over the cliff and nothing but darkness below her, Abby reached as far as she could and couldn’t reach her. Out of nowhere Qwen appeared and grabbed onto Abby’s ankles and lowered her to reach Amber. As soon as Amber could reach Abby’s, she started to let go of the branch and attempted to grab Abby’s hand, Qwen jerked Abby away and Amber started falling. Her screams echoed throughout the woods and slowly started to fade as she got further away. Abby was crying hysterically and couldn’t face the fact her best friend just died and she blamed Qwen. As Qwen pulled Abby back up she jumped up and started screaming like a crazy person at Qwen. “WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT YOU LOSER! THIS IS WHY YOU HAVE NO FRIENDS BECAUSE YOU'RE PSYCHO! YOU JUST KILLED AMBER!!” All Qwen had to say was, “all mean girls must die.” Then vanished into thin air as if she was a ghost. Abby just collapsed to the ground screaming and crying, wondering where Ashley was. Ashley started waking up, wincing in pain from getting hit so hard. She didn’t even realize she was chained up in the basement of the cabin. Newspapers were hanging everywhere and photos of a girl that appeared to look exactly like Qwen, but she couldn’t tell. Her vision was too fuzzy to get a good look. Her eyes felt heavy as if she couldn’t keep them open. “heeelp” Ashley cried in a weak voice. “heeelp.” Trying to stay awake, one of the articles on the wall headlining, “Teenage Girl Gone Missing! Was it the AxeMan?” Trying as hard as she could to focus on the picture attached to the article. Her heart started beating faster than a race car as she was able to notice the girl in the picture was Qwen. Looking at the other articles and photos as best as she could finally put together that Qwen is dead. “How is that possible!?!” With all these questions running through her head. She heard the creaking of the old stairs. Then Qwen appeared from the stairs. “How are you here? Who are you? What do you want from me?” Ashley cried. “I’m dead! Ghosts can take a solid form. Half this town is dead, you live in a ghost town sweetie. The legend is true, but you never saw him kill me right over there. The little boy is my brother. I was bullied by girls like you before I died and I want revenge.” Ashley was speechless, no words could come out. She stared into the distance. With an evil look in her eyes she silently whispered in Ashley’s ear, “now that I took care of Amber, I need to take care of Abby and then I’ll be back.” She turned around and walked straight through the wall. Abby was crying and trying to find her way out of the woods but every way she went kept leading her nowhere. Qwen stalked her behind the trees, waiting for the right moment. Abby was ready to give up and leaned up against a tree, sobbing and whispering under her breath. Qwen knew it was the right moment and grabbed a stick off the ground. Came up behind Abby and placed it on her throat. Abby gasped for air and finally collapsed to the ground. Qwen wasted no time with Abby, she wanted to get back to Ashley. Make her feel the way she felt because of girls like her. Ashley was trying to get free and run for help but she began to feel like it was hopeless. When all of a sudden the little boy came out of hiding and started to set her free. So no more blood would shed and he could finally be free, but never expected his sister to come home and was angry. She went outside and grabbed gasoline and a match, she felt betrayal by her own brother. She poured the gasoline by every possible exit then lit a match and dropped it on the gas. She smiled as she whispered, “I’ll be back” Three weeks have passed and smoke still comes from the woods and nobody dares to enter to find out what happened but apparently there’s more to the story that has been untold. One day I will figure it out. I'll always remember that night. I escaped once without being noticed and went off the grid. I can do it again to tell everyone the whole story. Signed Ashley
