Sorry to See You Go, Social Security, You Will be Missed
Thank you, Social Security. For more than ninety years you helped tens of millions of retired people survive. Several generations no longer had to live under the same roof, grandparents had a few dollars to slip into their grandchildren’s birthday cards, widows no longer went without or be sent to the Poor House. And way you helped Aunt Betty after Herbert died? That was a relief to her son. Because of you, he was able to marry the woman he loved, buy that little house of their own and start a family. And Uncle Jerry had no children to take him in and could not have survived without your help.
