The Punishment
This happened in 2005 when I was in the 12th grade. My school had both boarders as well as days scholars. There were 12 students in my class and four of us lived in the boy's hostel. Since hostel life was usually boring, we'd do all sorts of shit to make our lives a little interesting. So this incident took place on a fine Sunday during games time. A group of us were playing cricket (sports was seasonal in our school and this was the cricket season). Our school had 2 basketball courts and a big ground. Since the ground was a little further away from school, a group of us were playing cricket on one of the basketball courts.

The Yellow Scarf
Zale Victor watched the clouds drift lazily across the sky as he lay on the soft grass thinking about how his life might have been if his parents were still alive. He had been living in an orphanage for as long as he could remember, and it had not been a pleasant life, to say the least. It was a bright summer afternoon, and all the other children were busy making the most of it, playing and enjoying themselves in a park near his locality. Zale was lying on the grass, in his favourite spot, a meadow that was a little further away from the park. It was the perfect place as it was hidden away behind a clump of willow trees and Zale found this convenient as he could stay hidden from an older kid and his bunch of cronies. Zale, who was scrawny for his age of 13 years, was often bullied by them. Although the park was buzzing with activity, Zale had tuned it all out and he was lost in his thoughts when he heard someone call his name.

The School Picnic
I was educated in a Christian Brother (an Irish congregation) missionary school called Goethals Memorial situated in my hometown, Kurseong. Every year during autumn time, GMS had this tradition of organising picnics for all its students and staff. At the time, the school had students from grades 3 to 10 and each class has two sections A and B. The class teachers (the ones in charge of the entire class) were responsible for organising picnics for their respective classes. So each class (both sections) would be heading to different locations and destinations.

A 'Trip' to Remember
During my university days, I had a very enthusiastic bunch of classmates, who were always up for trips. In our first semester, we had managed to make a number of day trips in and around the city. Now as the second semester rolled in, we were all eager to go somewhere outside the city.
