On food
When I was 14, I discovered my mum's 'Women's Health' magazine. I remember leafing through it, somewhat dumbstruck by the gorgeous women, striking colours, and exciting promises of health and happiness contained in its pages. This magazine was my first introduction to the complex world of diet.

Day One
It occurred to me today that in order to achieve something - anything - we must actively commit oneself to the task at hand. An obvious fact, no doubt. And yet, this idea of starting something and actually finishing it seems to elude me - I have tendencies towards being caught in my inner Spring, continually pushing new ideas out of the soil, but rarely do I seem to follow them to the juicy reward of luscious, ripened fruit.

On morality
We get taught at school that if we are to see injustice, we ought to stand up against it, defy it – Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, Eddie Mabo – history is full of figures who declared they would not allow what is morally wrong to progress. We sit at the heels of these brave people and praise them, admire them. And yet, when the opportunity comes for us to rise as a collective and embody the same energy of these people to dispel injustice, we do nothing. We sit in our meekness, or victimhood, our ‘what ifs’; too scared to make a move lest we be persecuted. What truly matters? What is the tipping point – when does it become truly unbearable to stand on the side-lines and watch, and when do we go all in, tooth and nail, for what we believe in? We inherently know cruelty against a fellow human being is wrong. And yet, we do what we do to turn the cheek, justify it, somehow, to our ravaged souls so that we may sleep soundlessly at night. We seek to comfort ourselves and feel morally affirmed, and so believe that we couldn’t possibly be complicit in actions pervading to such despicable human behaviour. However, no matter how hard we try, this inner turmoil continues to lurk beneath the surface.

On becoming in our modern times.
We live in tight shoes, tight mindsets, tight budgets. Always attempting to squeeze ourselves into something that doesn’t quite sit right. We morph and change and mould ourselves into who we ‘should’ be. Then, we become fretful and anxious, always worrying about maintaining this incongruous disposition. Pervasive self-deprecation seems to be the new trend, and if you are not continuously seeking to redefine and improve yourself, you are ostracised. From healing childhood trauma, becoming more confident, to changing addictive behaviour, the health & wellness industry is utterly capitalising on our deeply discontented modern lives & lack of truly compassionate leaders. Selective inclusivity rules, and we are encouraged to love & honour all that we are, unless of course that involves ‘bad’ and ‘negative’ traits, which must be cleansed from our system to allow us to be whole again.
