This is Part Five in a series. You can read Parts One, Two, Three, and Four here. 09:15 pm, Georgetown The sterile smell of latex and disinfectant hung in the air as the paramedics wheeled Alexis into the emergency room. She could smell it in her waking dream state. She could feel the gurney shake back and forth as it bumped its way down the hall. The world was black, her head was pounding, and her ears were ringing, but she was alive. Time was a flat circle again.

Depths of a Machine Soul
"Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of spaces, or so they say. " Great Scott! What a cliché, Ridley thought as he read the opening line of the latest submission laid on his desk. But then again, clichés were clichés for a reason, and that reason was that they worked. They were comforting to the reader, and if a story didn't conform to the worn-out clichés of fiction, then it would probably be rejected by publishers on the grounds of non-conformism.

Phantom Shift- Sublimation
This is Part Four in a series. You can click here for all chapters. Alex, or rather Raul as he had decided to go by the last cover name he used, had sat quietly in Jason’s van for four hours. He had been watching Haberdashers, waiting for Tupac to retrieve the documents. While most people would think of being on a stakeout as torture, Raul quite enjoyed it. It was a simple task. Sit in one spot for as long as possible, observing your target. Most would think there was little to do in the meantime, but he had learned over the years that it’s best to bring some kind of entertainment.

Who Created Princess Leia’s Aesthetic?. Top Story - September 2021.
Star Wars is one of the most iconic films in American history. This is due to both great storytelling and the timeless costumes. And as with all great works, fans are always curious about the origins of their favorite works, and Star Wars is no exception. Whether it’s drawing links between Star Wars and other sci-fi works like Dune or Perry Rhodan, or other inspirations such as Seven Samurai, it is easy for one to see that George Lucas’s sci-fi epic was not created in a vacuum. However, one of the most iconic looks of the first film (now episode IV), Star Wars: A New Hope, is Princess Leia’s hair. And as such, it has been the subject of much speculation since the film was released. The goal of this article is not to rehash old articles or detract from how others interpret Star Wars through their cultural lens. But rather, it is an attempt to ponder the actual origins of Princess Leia’s look and offer new evidence as to its providence.

Phantom Shift
6:13 am, Jason waiting for his bus. Ugh, another Tuesday morning, another cup of cheap coffee from Carlo. It’s not as terrible as I make it sound. I just wish I could treat myself to something from The Bean. I will never understand why Rebecca left the way she did. She knew I loved her with all my heart. And the kids, god, the kids. Why is it she ran off, but I’m stuck with only seeing them one weekend a month? How is it that a court can look at her and say that I am incapable of providing a stable home? The school loans were almost paid off, and the agency was taking care of law school. Now, here I am stuck paying minimum balances, funding her and Meredith’s best life off in who-knows where their so-called “influencer” life takes them. At least the kids are with Rebecca’s mother now, even if that means they’re two hours outside the beltway.
