Introducing Emergence

What is Emergence?

Emergence is a new Facebook group dedicated to fans of science fiction, fantasy, comics, video games, tabletop games, and all things that makeup nerdom. The dictionary defines emergence as “the process of coming into view or becoming exposed after being concealed. The process of coming into being, or of becoming important or prominent.” And that is the purpose of this group.

We all love the work of prominent creators behind our beloved franchises, but those creators are successful and established. What we strive to create with Emergence is a space for up-and-coming creators to share their work, and fans to share the things they love.

How are we going to do this?

We are inviting fans of these genres to come and see what the next generation of creators are working on. We are also inviting those creators to share their work. In this, we will accept posts from most platforms. Whether that is from Vocal, Medium, Wattpad, DeviantArt, or any other creator-driven website.

While we are encouraging artists to share their work, we also want to create a space for fans. We hope that this will be a place for everyone to discover new artists or writers. Perhaps you find a new series or artist, and you fall in love with their work. Or you may even look back one day, and tell the world that they were one of the first fans of the Orgaxon and the Nebumorphs novels. (Special thanks to Arpad Nagy for coming up with the Orgaxon and the Nebumorphs, and Kyla R. for bringing them to life in Part 5 of Retreat at the Camel Cove Lodge).

How are we doing this?

We are doing this by encouraging members to share the art they think should be the next great work.

Do you follow a writer that you feel needs more recognition for their work?

Share their stories here for the world to see.

Do you follow a graphic artist, painter, illustrator that you feel the world needs to see?

Show the group how wonderful they are.

Have you ever wondered what it would have been like to meet Giger, Herbert, or King before they made it big?

Now you have the chance to find out what it is like to discover someone before they get big.

Do you want to start on your journey to being a successful writer or artist?

Come on by, talk to a world full of creators. The philosophy of Vocal is “Better Together”. And that’s what the world needs now, people coming together, to enjoy what they love, and discover the new.
