Where Are You Going?
Salutations, Earthling. I come in peace. I see that all is not well on this beautiful, delicate planet at this time. I see lies, manipulations, bondages, shame; beings treating other beings horrifically. There is greed and excess, scarcity, poverty and suffering.
A Story About A Forest
Once upon a time there was a gorgeous, lush forest that teemed with life and vibrance. The forest was protected by highly official documents, laws and legislation, unharm-able, loved and nurtured by all who lived by it. Baby squirrels played and chased each other up and down majestic trunks from dawn to dusk. Nestled in great roots were settlements of mushroom villages and fat bugs of all shapes, sizes and colours wove in between the little umbrellas. Food was abundant, air was clean and sweet and seldom was there a crash that told of a fallen giant. When there was, new saplings rose up tall, growing strong upon the wisdom of the old bark beneath their roots.
Hope Like a Cork
Rain sluiced down the windshield, and sploshed against the windows. Darkness had drawn in quickly, thanks to impenetrable black clouds that dumped their bounty over the small community town that Trent now called home. He sat watching the drops splash, his thoughts a hundred miles away…
The Meeting of Hearts
Izzy chose carefully her favourite clothes to pack - she intended to make the best impression possible, for Trent to be proud of her…. At the thought, her heart beat wildly! Not often does a girl meet her husband’s sister at the same time as he does. If she was confused, imagine what Trent must be feeling! He had been in another world since finding out about Abby, one moment desperate to meet her and the next, embarrassed of his past, his criminal record, his scars - and then he would avoid discussing the subject at any cost.
The Puzzling Gift
Trent awoke before the sun, and spent a good hour studying before he needed to be up. He loved this time - the world was silent, his lamp the only light in the entire valley. It calmed him to know that nothing stirred or called for his attention: years living on the streets had taught him well the hair-trigger instinct of listening for anything out of place. And so for Trent this pre-dawn tranquility was a pocket of heaven. Besides, he had a lot to catch up on to be worthy of this gift of happiness.
Hope and Chocolate Cake
Wedding Day. At last. The farmhouse was abuzz with activity! Aunt Maddie was yelling orders here, there, and everywhere. The room was bustling as bridesmaids fussed over each other and all kinds of intricate details. Everything felt zoned out, a little hazy…. Izzy sat in front of her mirror and listened to her friends’ chatter, but she could understand nothing.
