George Thorogood - Interview
George Thorogood has been a staple part of my musical diet since I was a teenager. As this story recalls I first saw him as a teenager when I was on holidays on the Gold Coast. I saw him play numerous times since and a few years ago I interviewed him about roadies when I was making a TV show called Rock Soldiers. This interview appeared in InPress on May 17, 1989 and it was around his fifth Australian tour. It's just been announced that George is going to tour Australia again —and I guess me and Ruttsy will front up for another round...

Cowboy Junkies Interview
Cowboy Junkies have just announced an Australian tour for 2020. It's amazing that a band that started in such a low-key way have endured so beautifully. When their first international album, The Trinity Session, came out in 198,8 it was lauded for its stark simplicity. It still sounds alluring today. This interview with Michael Timmins was the cover story of InPress on 17 May, 1989. A few years later, an artist I managed, Julia Darling, played several shows with Cowboy Junkies in Southern California when they were managed by my good friend Peter Leak. They were lovely people and it was an honour to work with them.

Crowded House - Paul Hester - Interview
This interview with Paul Hester of Crowded House was the cover story of Edition 6 of InPress published on Wednesday August 17, 1988. Paul knew the magazine was just getting started at the time of the interview and started the interview with "Let's see if we can get some quotable quotes to move the new mag along, mate." That's the kind of guy he was. The interview coincided with the release of the second Crowded House album Temple of Low Men, which had the challenging job of emulating the success of their extraordinary debut...

James Reyne - Interview
This interview was done when James Reyne seemed to be on the verge of international success. At the time of the interview I had worked with James Reyne in a music publishing capacity and I also knew him socially so it was a casual and yet frank interview. It appeared as the cover story of InPress on 27 July 1988.

Joni Mitchell Interview
My interview with Joni Mitchell was conducted by phone in 1988 and appeared in InPress on Wednesday, 27 July, 1988, in Edition 3 of InPress. She was forty-four at the time and had just released the album Chalk Mark in a Rainstorm. In this interview, she talks about maintaining her innocence, finding meaning in music, Elvis and Kylie and the respect she had received from Prince.
